Self-Study: Section II

Please share with us the following information. Self-study documents are generally in the 10- to 20-page range. Please avoid duplicating information in different sections.

  • List all groups (nursery, kindergarten, parent-child, extended care, parent-infant, child care), including number of children and ages for each group.
  • Please describe your current location and indoor and outdoor facilities. Are they adequate? Permanent?

3) Commitment to the ideals and practices of Waldorf early childhood education and anthroposophy [Please address this in terms of your early childhood program(s) as a whole, rather than offering individual teachers’ responses.]

  • Describe how this commitment comes to expression in your program(s) and work with children.
  • Describe how this commitment comes to expression in your faculty study, other study groups, or other faculty activity.

4) Teacher preparation and professional development

  • In light of the WECAN Shared Principles and Expectations for Teacher Education, describe your goals and policies for the training, mentoring, evaluation, and ongoing professional development of current early childhood faculty/caregivers.
  • What are your goals and policies for the hiring of new teachers/caregivers?

5) Governance, finances, and enrollment for the early childhood program(s)

  • Who carries responsibility for decision-making in the following areas of your early childhood program(s): program development, enrollment, hiring, finances and budget, legal matters?
  • Is enrollment healthy?
  • Do you have sufficient financial and administrative resources to support your program(s), faculty, and facilities?
  • Describe how you are working with Shared Principle C6 in regard to socially responsible practices in the setting of salaries and benefits for early childhood teachers, assistants, and caregivers.
