First Grade Parent Orientation Meeting: Each first grade teacher will hold a 1st grade parent orientation meeting at 6:00 p.m. in their own classrooms. At this orientation, I will explain our curriculum and expectations for 1st grade. Child care will be provided. Hope to see you there!

Classroom Blog: This year we will have a classroom blog. Our blog is a way for me to share what we are doing in class. I will try to post at least twice a week. Since I would like to add classroom photographs to our blog, I will need to make our blog private. Please read over the classroom blog letter that has been sent home. I would greatly appreciate it if you could sign and return the letter on Monday so that I can get our blog up and running. Our classroom blog was a big success last year. The blog is a safe and secure way for me to share pictures of us in action with all of you.

Field Trip: Our 1st grade class will be going to Fallen Timbers Environmental Center on Tuesday, September 30th. Fallen Timbers is a wonderful place to learn about living things and their environments. During our visit we will be doing a pond study, nature hike and participating in other educational activities. We will need a couple of chaperones from our class to go along. Please let me know if you are interested in coming along and I will send home a yellow chaperone form if you have not filled one out already. Please consider joining us! This is such a special field trip!

Volunteers:If you would like to get involved in the classroom, please let me know. I am looking for volunteers to work with the students during our Reader’s Workshop time. If you volunteer you would be working one-on-one with students reading and practicing sight words and math facts with them. We love our special helpers. I would like a volunteer for each day of the week from 9:15 until 10:30. Please let me know if you would be interested in helping us become better readers and mathematicians.
