December Newsletter

Here we are in the month of December already! Santa and the elves are gearing up for a busy holiday season! We will also be quite busy in the upcoming month. Our main focus will be on “giving” rather than “receiving.” Having our classroom “mitten tree” will be a good example of this. It teaches the children the importance of thinking of others, especially at this time of year. Each child/family is asked to donate one pair of mittens and/or hat and we will hang it on our classroom tree. We will drop off all donations to the Salvation Army on Wednesday, December 21tstso they will have them in time for Christmas. Please include your child as much as possible in the selection of these items so they can really feel a part of the process.

We want to thank those of you who attended Grandparents Day and donated books to our classroom library. The children have been enjoying hearing their name mentioned before the story is read. We have built up a nice little selection of books for our Preschoolers to read/look at.

Thank you for the supplies that have been donated to our class- large easel sized paper is always needed, scrap paper, tissues, clear/white glue sticks, holiday stickers etc. These items are all put to good use and the children just love having lots of big painting paper for their masterpieces!

A big “thank you” goes out to our wonderful room parents, as well as all the others who have helped organize our classroom parties, helped in the classroom, made playdough, and helped with baking. We appreciate everything you do for us!!

We now enter into the colder weather and winter helpers will be needed once the snow falls to assist with snowsuits/boots. We will be having recess at the end of our morning until dismissal. (This will alleviate having to dress them up twice in one day!) If we start getting the children ready at 11:00, it should give them at least 20 minutes to play in the snow. Please remember to send your child with labeled hat, mittens, boots & and snowpants. They should also have a pair of shoes to wear inside the classroom. It’s hard for a child who does not have snowpants/boots to play outdoors so please try to make sure they are properly equipped to “battle the elements.”

We will also need some “decorators” to assist with our graham cracker houses. This way the “décor” ends up ON the houses as opposed to IN their tummies! This is also a wonderful chance for you to take a minute to relax and enjoy the holiday season as seen through your child’s eyes. We get so busy this time of year that we tend to forget the “reason for the season.” We will be decorating on Dec. 14th @ 9:00. Don’t forget your camera as they are just adorable when completed.

Christmas cookie bakers will also be needed to make sure they come out just right to frost & decorate! This will take place. Dec. 7th @ 9:00.

Our Christmas party/singalong will take place on Wednesday,

Dec. 21st @ 11:15. Please see room parents regarding supplies/assistance that may be needed.

We would like to extend our warmest wishes to all of you and hope you have a very blessed holiday with friends and family. Let us all remember the reason for this holiday celebration. While it is nice to have creature comforts, it is the people we love & our good health that truly matters. We also wish you a happy, healthy 2017!

Sincerely, Ms. Donna & Ms. Jaime
