We want to make Wales a world leader in gender equality – Do you?

The opportunity

At an exciting time in ChwaraeTeg’s history, we are looking for several new Board members to support our development during some exciting but challenging times over the coming years. As Wales’ leading gender equality charity, we are working to develop women’s economic potential, support their careers and work with organisations and employers to develop modern work places and practices.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Assisting the Chief Executive and Senior Management Team with the strategic direction of ChwaraeTeg;
  • Ensure ChwaraeTeg’s compliance with charity, company law, and our funders requirements; and
  • Act as ambassadors for ChwaraeTeg and our work, developing networks and supporting our development

Meetings

The Board of Trustees meets on a bi-monthly basis in Cardiff (for approximately 4 hours) and also holds an annualboard strategy day. We also have a Finance and Resources subcommittee that looks in more detail at the finances and management of the organisation and a People subcommittee that looks in more details at staffing issues. Both subcommittees make appropriate recommendations to the board as required.

We encourage and support board members to attend meetings with key stakeholders (including on occasion with our funders), but also to participate in the life of the organisation between board meetings, staff conferences and any other events hosted by ChwaraeTeg.

Person Specification

  • Accounting and finance;
  • Expertise in the machinery of government in Wales
  • Experience in enterprise and business – particularly in relation to large Change agendas (e.g. Consideration of the impact of Brexit)

But most important to us is that you are passionate about joining us in our mission to make Wales a world leader in gender equality.
