Grand Knights Message
My Brother Knights,
Congratulations to Past Grand Knight Eric Tragarz for leading our council to Star Council. District Deputy Jeff Griggs presented our award at our October business meeting. We are off to a promising start to earn the award next year but it can only happen with your help. Invite your friends and acquaintances to join the Knights.
This month is again filled with many charitable events. Any and all help is appreciated.
If you are looking for a little exercise, November 4th and 11th may be for you. We will be collecting food for the Leyden Township Food Pantry. Both Saturdays we will meet
at the Schiller Park Community Center at 9:00 am to distribute flyers and pick up food donations.
We also have two opportunities to show our support for our community, at the Schiller Park Community Center. First, November 5th (7:30 am) we will be working alongside our firefighters serving breakfast to our Veterans. This has become an annual event and a great way to say thank you for Defending our Freedom. Friday November 17th (5:30 pm), we will be serving Loaves and Fishes. All are welcome to help serve at both events.
The Polish Dinner is back! Come and enjoy the great cuisine of Kasia’s Deli as we raise money for St Beatrice and St Gertrude’s Parishes. For a mere $25 per person you can dine with friends and family listening to great Polish entertainment. Last year we had over 150 people join us. This year we would like to top 200.
Don’t forget to join us for the Social Meeting this month, Thanksgiving Dinner. Wednesday November 15th at 7:30 we will have turkey and baked potatoes. Please bring a dish to pass, if you wish.
Vivat Jesus
Michael Paul, Grand Knight

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL #4456 RECEIVES TOP AWARD
Schiller Park, IL – October 16, 2017 Knights of Columbus Council #4456 of Franklin Park and Schiller Park has received the distinction of Star Council, the international organization’s top award.
The Star Council award recognizes overall excellence in the areas of membership, promotion of the fraternal insurance program, and sponsorship of service-oriented activities.
The award was presented to the members by, District Deputy Jeff Griggs October 4, 2017.
Over the last year under the leadership of Past Grand Knight Eric Tragarz the council has accomplished activities in the areas of church, community, council, culture of life, family
and youth. These endeavors included, sponsoring loaves
and fishes, the intellectuals with disabilities drive, baby bottle campaign, U. S. Veterans breakfast, and soccer challenge.
Throughout the year many other activities were embraced and completed by the council. Being an active council requires a lot of dedicated Catholic gentlemen who take pride in making a difference.
This council has just celebrated its 60th anniversary and continues to make their presence felt.
With more than 1.7 million members, the Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic lay organization. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, the community, families, and young people. In 2016, the Knights of Columbus at all levels of the organization raised and distributed $177,500,673 million to charity and rendered 75 million hours of volunteer service.
To my Senior friends, attached is an article from AARP regarding a new Medicare Card that will be coming out April1, 2018.
