Introductions / Members introduced themselves.
Update on status of CERT / MRC / DART / Robert / There were no updates to the current status of the MRC, CERT and DART teams. Robert handed out the schedule for the next 5 ALL Members Meeting including the topics for each meeting (See Attached)

Announcements and Upcoming Events Schedule / Robert /
  1. We have PSA’s running on stations WIZZ, Bear Country and WHAI, announcing registrations for our next MRC 101, to be held Saturday. April 9th, from 9:00 am -12:30 pm, at the Montague Public Safety Complex. In order to be an MRC member a person must take the MRC 101 class, fill out an application and sign the agreements. Then, within 1 year they need to get CPR and First Aid certification, complete ICS 100 and 700 (in person or online) and take the Psychological First Aid class. IF YOU KNOW OF ANYONE INTERESTED IN BEING AN MRC MEMBER PLEASE HAVE THEM CALL ME TO REGISTER AT 413-774-3167 X137 OR EMAIL ME AT .
  2. There is still time to register for the UMass Amherst--EDS Large scale exercise, on Thursday, April 7, from 12:30 pm - 6:00 pm, at the UMass Mullen’s Center. The scenario is aMeningitis Outbreak at UMass and 5 Colleges. Snack and dinner, along with free parking will be provided.
  3. The topic at our ALL Members Meeting on Monday, May 23rd, from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm, will be the Disaster Psychology. So anyone who takes the MRC 101 in April or has taken it previously and still needs Disaster Psychology class can take that required class at the May meeting. That monthly meeting will be held at the Transit Center.
  4. The topic at our ALL Members Meeting on Monday, June 27th, from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm will be CPR and First Aid. So anyone who takes the MRC 101 in April or has taken it previously and still needs CPR and First Aid certification or renewal can take it at the June meeting. That monthly meeting will be held at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
  5. We will hold a Compass and Mapping Training on Saturday, June 11th for 4 hours (exact times to be determined) at Northfield Mountain Picnic Area. More info will be forth coming.
TABLING OPPORTUNITIES:
These are the events that we are going to need volunteers to staff recruitment and information tables to give out promotional materials and advise those interested on how to volunteer and when the next training will be.
  1. We have been invited to have a recruitment table at the Franklin County Spring Parade and 5K Road Race, on Saturday, April 23rd., set-up is between 9:00 and 9:30am and breakdown is at 12:45pm. This event is held at the Turner Falls High School Parking lot in Turners Falls. We’ll need two volunteers to staff the table.
  2. We have been invited to have a recruitment table at the Shelburne Grange Fair, on Saturday, August 28th, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.This event is heldat the Fellowship Hall in Shelburne Center. We’ll need two volunteers to staff the table.
FIRST AID COVERAGE OPPORTUNITIES:
These are the events that we are going to need volunteers to manage first aid stations. This is our opportunity to practice, see the equipment, meet and work with each other and just generally get comfortable with the whole process of responding. PLEASE PUT THESE DATES IN YOUR CALENDARS AND BE PREPARED TO SIGN-UP WHEN YOU ARE AVAILABLE. I’LL HAVE MORE INFORMATION IN A LATER EMAIL

Volunteer victims need only attend the Saturday portion of the exercise.
In-Service: CERT Managing Spontaneous Volunteers / Eammon Coughlin, Planner,and Alison Hope, Public Health Planner, Berkshire Regional Planning Commission / Mr. Coughlin and Ms. Hope presented the recently completed Spontaneous Volunteer Management System developed by the Western Region Homeland Security Advisory Council (WRHSAC) and the Western Mass MRC Advisory Group. They discussed the Plan, the Standard Operating Guide, the job action sheets and the Forms that would be used. MRC volunteer who are already credentials could plan a significant role in helping to register and credential spontaneous volunteer in the event of a large scaler disaster. Printed versions of the Plan, Standard Operating Guide, Job Action Sheets and Forms will be available on the WRHSAC website ( in the near future.
