Utopian Academy For the Arts Policy on a grade of “0”-Zeros are earned by a student when there has been no effort to attempt and complete an assignment. No make up work will be given. For example; if a student attends class on Monday and decides to “not” turn in classwork; he/she earns a grade of zero and will not be given additional opportunities to earn a higher grade. This applies to homework as well. Homework is to be turned in the following school day unless other directives are specified by the teacher. If a student returns to school without their homework; he/she earns a grade of “0” unless other directives are specified by the teacher for an extension.

Utopian Academy For the Arts Make-up Policy- If a student has an excused absence, he/she is allowedto make up their work depending on the amount of days missed. For example; if a student has an excused absence for one school day; he/she has one school day to return his/her work. If a student has three consecutive excused absences, he/she has three consecutive school days to return his/her work. This policy does not include unexcused absences. Upon returning to school, a student must return with an excused absence note. The student may not return a note later than the day they return to school.
