Issue:

What issue do you want to take action on? (e.g. stigma towards people with HIV)

Why is it important to you? (e.g. I think that a lot of young people my age don’t understand what living with HIV is like, and have a negative view of people who have HIV)

Goal:

What do you want to happen as a result of your action? (e.g. I would like young people to understand the effects of stigma on people living with HIV, and to be more understanding towards people who are affected by HIV)

Action:

What are you planning to do? (e.g. I am going to make a play about someone who experiences bullying because they are HIV positive, and show it in my youth club)

About your idea:

How does your action link with the work of the British Red Cross?

(Hint:

-  Is it about helping people?

-  Is it neutral? (not religious or political)

-  Is it responding to a problem that exists already?

-  Does it link to one of our services? E.g. Retail, First Aid, Fundraising etc. For more information, please see our website.)

(e.g. The play will help people living with HIV because the audience will be more informed, and it will reduce stigma. It will not be political or religious in content. There is a need for people to understand people living with HIV as ¾ of HIV positive people living with HIV say they have experienced discrimination or bullying as a result of their status. The Red Cross Movement is concerned with the health and well-being of people, physically and emotionally. It works to support people living with HIV, and reduce stigma towards all groups that are marginalised)

Challenges :

Can you think of any potential problems that might come up during your project?

(e.g. It might be hard for the actors to commit to rehearsals during exam time)

Support

What help do you think you will need from us, or from others? For example, you might need help using equipment, or help with transport, or with research etc.

(e.g. I will need some help with writing the script because I have dyslexia)

Resources:

Please give us an idea of what you need for the project and how much these will cost.

Item / What is it needed for? / Cost
(a microphone) / (for the narrator of the drama) / £10.00

Grants of up to £150 are available. If your project will cost more than this, how will you raise the rest of the money?

Evidence:

How will you prove the difference that your action made? (E.g. photos, quotes from people)

(e.g. I will ask the audience what they thought of the play)

How will you know it has been successful?

(e.g. I will ask the audience what they think about people living with HIV before the play, then ask them the same question afterwards and see if there is a difference.)

Your timeline:

Please give us a rough idea of when you plan to start and finish your project. For example, ‘October, November and December’

Schedule:

What days and times will you be meeting to work on the project with your team? E.g. Every Wednesday evening, Saturday morning etc
