We are excited that you have chosen the Surrey Gymnastics Society (SGS) to hold your class’s gymnastics fieldtrip. There are other choices in the Surrey area but none are parent run, not for profit societies like SGS.

We are the oldest gymnastics establishment in the Surrey area. We have been located behind Frank Hurt Secondary School since 1983.

We would like your class to have the best experience possible so please note the following expectations we have for your class.

1)Please have all students wear appropriate athletic attire. This means shorts or sweatpants and a t-shirt. If the children would like to wear a sweatshirt until they are warmed up that would be okay too. The children will be barefoot in the gym. PLEASE, NO JEANS, BUTTON UP SHIRTS OR CLOTHES WITH BIG ZIPPERS OR RIVETS.

No dangling jewelry (necklaces or earrings), no watches, bracelets or finger rings. These can be a hazard to children turning upside down, or can get caught on our equipment or staff.

2)As we are trying to keep the children moving in a safe manner throughout the fieldtrip, we would like to have a minimum of three (4) parent helperswho are willing to come out on the gym floor. The parents will only be used as crowd control and perhaps a helping hand as the children walk on balance beams. More helpers are allowed if you have keen parents, but it is preferred that the teacher is not one of the helpers.

3)There is a viewing mezzanine at the gym center for those who are not in the class enjoying the fieldtrip. We would ask that NO siblings who are not officially part of the class take part in the fieldtrip. I am sure you understand that it is very hard to control a full class of children and chase after a toddler as well.

How to get to SGS:

Our address is 13940 77th Avenue (behind Frank Hurt Secondary School)

You must access 77th Avenue from 140th Street, turn west onto 77th Avenue, drive past the school and turn left into the parking lot. Drive to the back left corner of the parking lot. If you walk down the sidewalk beside the emergency lane going to the back of the school you will arrive at our front door.

We are looking forward to seeing you,

Thank you,

SGS Staff
