Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. – Kappa Psi Chapter & Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., - Mu Delta Chapter are proud to host the Washington DC Metropolitan Area Public Debate Tournament for teenagers.

Dear Educators and Students,

We are delighted to invite you to register for our Washington DC Metropolitan Area Public Debate Tournament for teenagers, which will be on Saturday, November 7, 2015.

The topic is - Resolved: The United States Federal Government ought to pay reparations to African Americans.

There will be one open division of unlimited teams. Teams may consist of one to two students’. Also, teams are not required to represent a school but all teams must have an adult sponsor.

Teams are not required to have a plan of action, therefore, enabling any team without a plan of action to primarily focus on the advantages and disadvantages of the stated resolution. Please see the section labeled, “FORMAT AND TIME LIMITS” on the third page of the registration package.

Awards – (at a minimum and subject to change)

The winning team will receive $300.00, the second place team will receive $200.00 the third place team will receive $100.00 and the fourth place team will receive $75.00.

Top Speaker – 1st Place – $ 100.00, 2nd Place $75.00, 3rd Place $50.00, 4th Place $25.00

Top Coach - $ 100.00.

The speaking time limits are the maximum. There is no minimum.

Heckling and Points of Information are permitted. However, before the round starts, each team must receive permission, from the Chief Judge, of the round, to use Heckling and Points of Information.
