Issues discussed / Action / Follow-up1. / Census Preliminary Report
The Census Preliminary report was launched on 30 August 2014 with showing total 51.4 million populations in Myanmar. Some areas such as KNU, KIO and parts of Rakhine were not fully enumerated and the adjusted/estimated figure has been provided for these areas at State/Region Level. MIMU to check on availability of TS level estimates where enumeration was not completed. The Census will not provide village level population data and also did not collect GPS information to fill gaps in the village mapping (currently 75% of villages we know of have GPS coordinates). / MIMU to check on availability of TS level estimates:

2. / Ongoing and planned Surveys/Assessments:
· World Bank - Myanmar Poverty and Living Conditions Survey (MPLCS) –
· UNICEF/Dept of Health - Demographic Health Survey (DHS) funded by USAID
· ILO - Labour survey – waiting for the sampling frame
· UNDP – IHLCA planned together with World Bank end 2015/2016
· UNDP - Countrywide Socio-Economic Survey of People Living with HIV/AIDS
· UNDP - A comprehensive ER assessment is planned for in Kachin with engagement with government and recovery and humanitarian partners. The assessment will look at ER in a holistic manner including access to basic services, governance and livelihoods. The Assessment expert will arrive in Kachin on Monday September 29th.
· UNDP – Local Governance Survey countrywide – conducted so far in Chin, Mon and Kayah. Includes different methods to ensure good gender representation (male and female focus groups, questionnaires and respondent interviews)
· WFP – Food Security Survey and poverty estimation undertaken Shan, Kachin, Magway, Sagaing and Chin in March 2014. Will be conducted in Kayin, Kayah and Tanintharyi (target 600 HH per state) as a next step using the UNDP Scorecard for the poverty estimation. Consultations are being conducted to consolidate results and profiles of each area.
· WFP – Food security sector survey for IDPs in Kachin (400 Households across 40 camps) to better understand the situation in areas where there has been little monitoring so far.
· Mine Action surveys – MAG / community mapping of mine contamination, NPA / non-technical surveys in designated areas (mainly in Mon State), DCA / KAP survey completed – waiting endorsement to release final results.
· MIMU 3W (See below)
3. / Update from ICT Working Group
The ICT Working group made the list of ICT for development/humanitarian work currently being implemented in Myanmar based on attendees’ knowledge at the last meeting. The next meeting will be September 24 at 10 am and will include a presentation from CommCare.
3. / Updates from GIS Working Groups (Nway Aung/MIMU)
· Discussed revisions to the GIS Working Group ToR, including
- Suggested work plan for 2014
- Broadening membership (academic, Govt and private sector)
- Establishing a google group to communicate more easily with each other
- Linking to other working groups where relevant (e.g land use reform group)
- Including technical presentation sections in each meeting
- Developing a data catalogue (MIMU to draft suggested fields to be included)
· Agencies reported updates about their current activities and the next meeting will be on September 24 at 3 pm.
4. / Update from IM Network Members on their activities and plans
· WFP: Plan to do Food Security Survey for the IDPs in Kachin to generate data on the situation down to the villages where people will be relocated. The food assistance and blanket distribution need to be reviewed whether they are still need to be continued or they have reached the target.
· MIMU: The 3W exercise will start on September 9th (Tuesday) and the organizations will have a 3 week timeframe to update the 3W data. The changes in the 3W form are: 1) the new data field for “Type of assistance through/to government”, (2) the new sector called “Private Sector Development” and (3) “Type of beneficiary (IDP/Non-IDP/Both)” especially for Kachin, Shan(North) and Rakhine area are added. It was suggested that an additional project status option - “suspended” – be included in the data entry form in order to capture these projects. The 3W captures information from organisations on their projects that are 1) current/on-going, 2) completed in the last six months and 3) planned to start in next six months. The 3W raw data will be released at the last week of October.
· UNOCHA: Emergency Simulation Exercise has just finished which was based on a scenario of an tsunami affecting Southwest of Myanmar. It provided some suggestions on information management, highlighting specifically the gaps in sector/cluster capacity and lack of clarity on the division of tasks between OCHA IMU and MIMU during the exercise.
5. / Data Disaggregation categories
· It was agreed that the work done on this has been excellent. Some minor comments were suggested in the group discussion to better clarify particular aspects of the categories.
6. / AOB
· The thematic meeting for South East is scheduled on 25th September (Thursday) morning, arranged by MIMU on behalf of the IM Network. / NOTE- being rescheduled for a later date.
7. / Next Meeting
The next meeting will be held at 3 pm, 01 October 2014 (Wednesday)
