VALVES SHALL BE MANIPULATED SO THAT THE STRONG CHLORINE SOLUTION IN THE LINE BEING TREATED WILL NOT FLOW BACK INTO THE LINE SUPPLYING THE WATER. BACKFLOW PREVENTERS SHALL BE USED IF NECESSARY.

WATER / FORCE MAIN PRESSURE TEST

Note: Pressure testing must be completed by 12:00 noon due to thermal expansion.

Hydrostatic testing shall be performed at 100 psi, for force main and 150 psi for water main unless otherwise approved by the Utilities Engineer. Hydrostatic tests shall be for a period of not less than two hours. Maximum length for test must be less than 3000 feet or as allowed by the Utilities Engineer. Testing shall be in accordance with the applicable provisions as set forth in Section 13 of AWWA Standard C600. The allowable rate of leakage shall be less than the number of gallons per hour determined by the following formula:
