USES

Water Dispersable Anti-static Epoxy Primer is used as a conductive layer prior to the application of anti-static coatings, self- smoothing systems and wall coatings.

DESCRIPTION

Water Dispersable Anti-static Epoxy Primer is a 2 part water dispersed epoxy primer/sealer. The product contains no solvents and therefore is not flammable.

CAUTION – After Water Dispersible Anti-static Epoxy Primer is cured, the resultant surface is electrically conductive. Regular warning signs indicating this fact must be predominantly displayed in all areas concerned. All electrical equipment and working practices must be suitable for working in this environment. All warning signs must be left in place until the finished surface is approved for use.

SURFACE PREPARATION

New concrete should be at least 28 days old or the moisture content less than 6%. The substrate should be clean, free from laitance, oil grease or other agents which may impair adhesion. Cleaning techniques may include: - acid etching, grinding, light mechanical scabbling, blasting or degreasing depending on floor contamination.

Existing concrete floors should be sound and free from loose material. Damaged areas should be repaired with a Patch Repair System prior to the coating application.

MIXING

Water Dispersable Anti-static Epoxy Primer is supplied in pre-weighed containers and only requires the addition of the resin pack component A to the hardener component B. No more water must be added under any circumstances. Mixing should be carried out by drill with a suitable mixing attachment. Mix for 1-2 minutes until homogeneous.

APPLICATION

Apply the mixed Water Dispersable Anti-static Epoxy Primer by brush or roller at the rate of 5-6m² per Kg, working well to the substrate ensuring an even coverage. If the substrate is very porous a second coat may be required, in this case a coverage rate of 6-7m² must be achieved. If in doubt, please contact our Technical Department.

TESTING

Water Dispersable Anti-static Epoxy Primer should be tested after the initial cure of approximately 6 – 8 hours before proceeding with the application of the top coatings. The reading on a MEGGER such as BM200 series or similar should display 0.04 M ohms or less at M ohms 500 V setting.

FINISH COATING

All P.R. Epoxy Systems coatings are suitable and compatible to achieve an antistatic surface and tested to this effect, when our application instructions are followed (available on request). Competitors finished coatings should not be used in conjunction with Water Dispersable Anti-static Epoxy Primer unless tests are carried out for compatibility prior to application to meet BS.2050 A. 4.1.1978.

CLEANING

All brushes, rollers, tools etc; should be cleaned with warm, soapy water immediately after use. Do not use a Solvent.

HEALTH & SAFETY

It is recommended that barrier creams, gloves and protective clothing be worn

when using Water Dispersable Anti-static Epoxy Primer.

If eyes are affected wash with copious amounts of water and seek medical advice.

For hands – wash with soap and water.
