Washington State Dairy Women Scholarships

For the 2018/2019 Academic Year

Through the generous support of our sponsors, individual donations, and the proceeds of our annual scholarship auction, the Washington State Dairy Women (WSDW) are pleased to offer four different scholarships for dairy youth:

WSDW Scholarship Application 2018

The eligibility criteria for each scholarship are noted in the application. Students may apply for any and all scholarships they are qualified for.

A complete application is required, please follow all instructions carefully. Additional pages may be used if more space is needed to complete your responses, as long as they are in the same format as the related section of the application.

Scholarship funds are expected be used during the 2018/2019 school year. Funds will be paid directly to the educational institution. If selected for a scholarship, recipients will be asked to provide their social security number on the acceptance form.

Applications will only be accepted by e-mail. The application and all supporting documents must be received by April 15th by the WSDW Scholarship Committee Chairperson. We will not review late or incomplete applications. It is the applicant’s responsibility to make sure all materials are received by the due date. Early submission of application package is encouraged, to verify that your two letters of recommendation have been received for your application. The WSDW Scholarship Committee Chairperson will confirm receipt of all applications and will verify if it is complete by e-mail.

Scholarship winners will be notified by June 1st, and the scholarships will be presented at the annual Washington State Dairy Ambassador Coronation at the Bellevue High School Performing Arts Center on June 23.

Washington State Dairy Women:

  • Number & amount vary based on funds available and the number of applicants.
  • Scholarships will be for a minimum of $1,000 each.
  • Applicant, their mother, or spouse must be a dues-paying member of the Washington State Dairy Women by April 1st of the current year. Need the county unit name and the name of the dues paying member.
  • Applicant may major in any field of study.
  • During the 2018/2019 academic year, applicant must be a junior or higher at a 4-year college or university, or in the 2nd year of a 2-year program at an accredited trade school. This is not intended to be used for the first 2 years of community college. Scholarship can also be used for post-graduate study.
  • Scholarship can be received no more than twice.
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Simplot Western Stockmen’s: 2 Scholarships available @ $500 each

  • Applicant must be a Washington resident.
  • Major must be related directly (dairy herd management, veterinary medicine etc.) or indirectly (dietitian, nutritionist, etc.) to the dairy industry.
  • During the 2018/2019 academic year, must be a sophomore, junior, or senior at a 4-year college, university, or community college. Graduate students may also apply. Must be enrolled full-time.
  • Scholarship can be received no more than twice
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.

WSU Scholarship: 1 Scholarship @ $500

  • Applicant must be a junior or senior at Washington State University in fall of 2018-2019.
  • Major must be related directly (dairy herd management, veterinary medicine, etc.) or indirectly (dietician, nutritionist, etc.) to the dairy industry.
  • Scholarship can only be received once.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Northwest Farm Credit Services: 1 Scholarship @ $1,000

  • Must be a Washington resident & demonstrate a connection to the dairy industry.
  • Preferred Majors: Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, and Ag Business.
  • During the 2018/2019 academic year, must be a sophomore, junior, or senior at a 4

year college, university, or community college. Graduate students may also apply.

Must be enrolled full-time.

  • Scholarship can only be received once.
  • Children & grandchildren of NWFCS employees or board members are not eligible.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Attach a current photo in jpeg format. A head and shoulders shot is preferred.

the registrar. Transcript must include all courses taken at the school, through the most recently completed quarter or semester. If you attended more than one school within the past year, include a copy of your unofficial transcript for each school attended in the past 12 months.

Applicant understands and agrees that failure to comply with the above may render applicant ineligible for the scholarship granted, and they may be required to return any unused portions of the scholarship award to the appropriate sponsor.
