Warwick Holt: Writer

Warwick is an experienced screenwriter, who’s written for many of Australia’s top comedians and presenters. He’s been honoured with five AWGIE Awards from the Australian Writers Guild, which sit alongside his gold record and Masters degree in Applied Maths.

His 7 part series BRUCE, a black sitcom about Australia’s first convicts, launched online in 2016, and won awards including Best Drama at the Australian Online Video Awards and critical acclaim. Directed by Tony Rogers, and starring Richard Davies, Angus Sampson and Dave Lawson, the production was funded by Screen Australia after development funding from the ABC and Film Victoria.

Warwick’s been employed since 2012 as a Writer and Web Producer for Network Ten’s nightly news and entertainment show THE PROJECT, writing jokes, sourcing stories, scripting content, and running the show’s website.

Warwick began writing professionally in 2004 for Wil Anderson and Corinne Grant on the ABC’s THE GLASS HOUSE, before moving on to THE SIDESHOW with Paul McDermott, who he continued to write for on Network Ten’s GOOD NEWS WEEK for five years.

Other shows he’s worked for include THE GREAT COMEDY DEBATE, THE COMEDY FESTIVAL ALLSTARS SUPERSHOW, GOOD NEWS WORLD, THE MINISTRY OF TRUTH, and animated series MOB DOWNUNDER.

Warwick has also received development funding for feature screenplays THE DEVIL’S IN THE DETAILS (an apocalyptic satire) and THE BUTTERFLY BALL (an animated musical), which are still in development.

He’s worked in the story rooms for the Nine Network’s HOUSE HUSBANDS and Network Ten’s MR & MRS MURDER.

Warwick wrote, produced, directed and created the music for several documentaries, most notably 2000’s THE PHANDOM MENACE, the story of the impact of the first Star Wars prequel on Australia’s biggest Star Wars fan club, which gained global DVD distribution.

He was a founding member of satirical multimedia War-on-Terror-based band NEW HORIZONS IN VIOLENCE, whose debut 2003 video The World’s Worst Leaders was viewed online over 100,000 times.

He received a gold record for his game design on Frenzal Rhomb’s A Man’s Not a Camel CD-RHOMB, developed when he was IT Manager for Shock Records.

Warwick has spoken at the National Screenwriters’ Conference, the Emerging Writers Festival, and given guest lectures to film and screenwriting students.

He’s also in elite company as one of less than 50 people worldwide with a confirmed Erdös-Bacon-Sabbath number, confirming him as a modern Renaissance man across film, music and science.

In his spare time, he runs his own media empire, Media Empire, through which he hopes to attain unassailable control of the global agenda.
