MIGRAINE HEADACHES

Do you know the difference between tension/stress headaches and migraines? Tension/stress headaches are typically generalized all-over pain. In contrast, migraines are often on one side of the head typically in the temples, and they are so severe as to cause auras to form, lights to flash even when eyes are closed, extreme light sensitivity, nausea, severe pain often on one side of the head typically in the temples, etc. Additionally, medication typically prescribed for regular headaches seldom brings relief to migraine headaches.

Even more alarming:

"Not only does it (the use of narcotics) deplenish your own natural painkillers," he said, "but it destroys parts of the brain that are responsible for fighting pain."

Other risks narcotics pose include hormonal changes and intense physical dependency. It is for this type of reason many experts believe the use of narcotics is just not worth the risk.

The report ultimately recommends the following:

“They (the experts) said patients should exhaust all other options before turning to the drugs that are now the most prescribed for headaches.”
