Job Title: Warehouse Associate I

Reports To: Purchasing & Warehouse Supervisor

Purpose of Position:

Contributes to the effectiveness of the purchasing/inventory control team by performing duties for the team such as operating a forklift, expediting inventory orders, issuing and receiving inventory, maintaining a clean and orderly warehouse and storing items needed in the operating and maintenance of the mine, equipment, and facilities.

EDUCATIONAL OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of three year’s work experience in warehousing, preferably in surface mining. A college degree is highly desired in a related field. Experience in an inventory control function preferred.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES REQUIRED TO DO JOB: Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills necessary. Computer skills with Microsoft Windows applications are necessary and must be able to utilize electronic parts and maintenance manuals and systems to identify, order, and issue parts. Must be able to work proficiently alone and on a team. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to regularly lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Basic mechanical aptitude is necessary. Understanding of electrical equipment desirable. Must be able to analyze parts and service information, review data and tasks, draw conclusions, and make timely recommendations. Daily attendance is required unless authorized by Supervisor. Multiple shift schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Expeditor: Responsible to accomplish tasks which result in the timely receipt of inventory from vendors and orderly daily flow of parts from the warehouse to the maintenance, engineering, and operations area.

2. Warehousing: Responsible that materials in inventory are properly cataloged and stored so that they are readily available when needed. Document incoming freight against purchase orders. Route and expedite incoming and outgoing freight, coordinate warehouse activities with other departments, know, understand and maintain parts, service and technical publications of various equipment manufacturers.

3. Customer Service: Responsible that all interactions with other organization teams are handled in a timely, courteous, professional manner.

4. Maintenance: Responsible that the work area is properly maintained and cleaned and that materials accepted into inventory are suitably cleaned.

5. Special Projects: Under the direction of the Purchasing Warehouse Supervisor, plans, coordinates, and carries out special projects for the organization.
