Wanted Poster for a Bacterial Pathogen
Project
Family and Consumer Sciences
Projects are due ______, 20__.
Objective: Students will research one bacterial pathogen and create a “Wanted Poster.”
Points Possible: 50 points
Requirements: (5 points each)
Poster is to be on 8.5" x 11" unlined paper. Include:
- Mug shot or photo (electron micrograph or microscopic picture/diagram)
- Description of pathogen
- Organism's m.o. (police jargon) (How does the organism attack and spread?)
- Most common victims to prey upon (Who does it affect?)
- Hide out of the culprit (Where is it most likely to be found?)
- Most common injury done to victim (What are the symptoms of the disease?)
- Is it considered armed and dangerous? (Describe the degree of damage caused.)
- Number of victims (How many people does it affect?)
- Most effective weapons against the germ (How do you prevent or cure it?)
- Any other identifying characteristics such as tattoos (Or just an interesting fact.)
Each of these 10 requirements must be present in order to receive 50 points on this project. You may choose to creatively portray the information, but be sure that all of the information is on the poster and that it is no larger than 8 ½ by 14 inches. Also make sure that each of the requirements is in your own words. A list of bacterial pathogens can be found on the back of this sheet, but you may choose another one not on the list if you really want to.
Finding information:
Information can be found at the library, on the Internet, and in my classroom in some of the textbooks. You will need to research and compile your Wanted Poster during assigned class times.
If you use the Internet, use a good search engine. The following websites are suggested. Be sure to use Internet safety.
