The MMR HSA works to build a community connection between parents, teachers, staff and the students of MMR. As a parent, you are automatically a member. The HSA Board is in need ofsix volunteers to fill the following positions for the 2018-2019 school year:

  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • Communications Chair
  • TwoSocial Chairs
  • Elections Chair

Please consider where your time and talents can best be utilized so that the HSA may continue to provide the wonderful activities and programs the children have experienced over the years.

Here is an overview on the open positions:

Vice President: The Vice President serves the first year assisting the President with his/her duties and serves the second year as the President. Here's a summary of the VP's duties:

In year one, the Vice President oversees the planning and execution of Catholic Schools Week, an important annual celebration, serves as a liaison with the school and homeroom parents, and is responsible for providing assembly information to school administration. The VP also assists the President and other board members with activities as needed.

In the second year on the Board, he/she will become President.The President is responsible for the overall organization and management of the HSA Board. He/she establishes dates and agendas for board and general meetings andconducts each meeting. The President facilitates communication with board members and delegates responsibilities as needed, and serves as a liaison among the Pastor, school administration, and parent community.

Treasurer: The treasurer is responsible for collecting of the family activity fee and making disbursements in accordance with the budget.

The treasurer prepares the annual budget for HSA events, ensures expenditures are in accordance with the budget and reports financial results monthly to the Parish Business Office Manager and presents an update at theHSA meetings.

Communications Chair: The Communications Chair works with the Board to ensure publicity of HSA activities and eventswithin the school community by:

  • Creating and updating HSA event flyers
  • Writing and/or reviewing announcements for Weekly Notes
  • Organizing RSVP forms and event planning documents
  • Coordinatingwith the school web administrator to keep HSA information current on the school website;updatingthe HSA page and Board directory.
  • Monitoring theHSA email account and working with the Board to respond to inquiries.

(2)Social Events Co-Chairs: The Social Chairs are responsible for coordinating family social events sponsored by HSA. These events include Donuts with Dads, Muffins with Mom, and Family Bingo nights. A chairperson is recruited for each event, and a list of volunteers is generated throughout the year. Since many eventsare recurring, event binders from previous years help guide in the planning of the events. This position has 4 co-chairs (2 new social chairs enter the board each school year). The commitment to the Board is a 2-year term.

Elections Chair: The Elections Chair oversees all aspects of the election/selection process for the new HAS board members. This includes communication of open positions and facilitating the nomination process.

Board Membersare expected to (have the intention to):

  • Serve a two-year term.
  • Attend and participate infour Board meetings.
  • Attend and assist with thethree general HSA meetings.
  • Attend and assist with major HSA-sponsored events, as needed.
  • Assist other board members with activities and task, as needed.
