1. Need/Justification

What is the intent in offering the course by distance education? What student needs will this offering meet?

Are there learning opportunities made possible in a distance education course that might not be available in a traditional course? Is this course part a program or institutional priority?

The intent of offering this course online is to enable students who can’t normally attend traditional classes the opportunity to take it. Investments is a Curricular Elective in both the Business and Accounting Degrees. It is also a required course for our Minor in Finance. Distance learning requires interaction though written media via discussion boards and e-mails as opposed to the traditional classroom setting.
This course is intended to provide a broad knowledge base and understanding of the various financial markets and investment choices. Students will be able to use critical thinking skills to analyze and estimate values of various financial instruments.

Page-Out will be used for homework assignments and tests. Power-points as well as and video lectures will be utilized in this course.
