Walk or run, just come for the fun!
The Ration Shed Reconciliation Fun Run will kick off at the Murgon Showgrounds at 8am on Sunday 27th April 2014. Participants are invited to run or walk the seven (7) kilometre road that runs between Murgon to Cherbourg.
Event Coordinator Zona Hussey-Smith promises it will be a great family day out. “The event is for fun, for enjoyment and won’t be timed. The people of Cherbourg welcome the people of Murgon and the South Burnett to participate in the name of friendship, in the name of hope and in the name of new possibilities,” she said.
Three (3) strategically placed water stations along the route will be equipped with qualified health workers, toilet facilities, rubbish bins, water and orange pieces.
Ms Hussey-Smith said a celebration of reconciliation will be held at the end of the route in the Cherbourg Memorial Park and The Ration Shed Museum. “We’ll have a big party with food, games, market stalls, dancers and performers. You can even get a free health check by the team at the Barambah Health Centre.”
During the celebration prizes will be awarded to those who cross the finish line first in a number of categories and each participant will receive a certificate. After the official proceedings buses will run to Murgon to return participants to the Murgon Showgrounds area with the last bus leaving Cherbourg at 2pm. Bus transport is encouraged as parking is limited in Cherbourg.

NOTE: Payment will be accepted ONLY online at or in cash at a sign-on point (time and date to be advised). Schools participants are handled in bulk through the schools. Participant numbers will be issued on payment and only people with numbers will be allowed to participate.
