Fair Board

W.S. 18-9-101 (a): Each board of county commissioners may:

(i)Acquire lands and other property for fairgrounds, airports, parks and pleasure grounds;

(ii)Construct, maintain and operate a public auditorium, athletic fields, civic center or other community building, which may be designated a s a memorial to the war veterans of the United States of America.

(iii)Appoint a board of trustees to control, maintain and manage the fairgrounds, airports, parks and pleasure grounds and to conduct agricultural, industrial and other fairs and exhibitions;

(iv)Levy taxes, issue bonds or incur indebtedness as then authorized by law for other county purposes. The taxes shall be levied and collected as are other county taxes and the taxes collected, together with other monies received shall be expended as authorized under this section. Monies in the fund shall be expended only by the board of trustees.

The board of trustees shall be composed of not less than 5 nor more than 9 competent citizens of the county appointed by the board of county commissioners. Trustees shall serve 5 year terms which shall be staggered. Each member of the board shall serve without compensation and the board may pay the secretary such compensation as proper for secretarial, accounting and other services required of him apart from his duties as a member of the board.

Board member work will include (but not be limited to):

1)Meet once per month. (Usually the 2ndThursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Fairgrounds in Riverton).

2)Propose and manage the county budget for the Fair.

3)Hire and supervise a Fair Director.

A. A Fair Director shall be a competent individual with Fair management skills as outlined by the Board in a job description. A copy of such description shall be filed with the Office of the CountyCommissioners.

B. The Director shall exhibit excellent public relation skills as they will be working with donors and other people in the public sector.

4)Shall prescribe rules and regulations for the establishment, organization, operation and use of the county fair.

ALL COUNTYBOARDS SHALL WORK AT THE PLEASURE OF THE COUNTYCOMMISSIONERS AND PURSUANT TO APPLICABLE WYOMING STATUTES. ANY AND ALL BOARD MEMBERS MAY BE REMOVED AT ANY TIME AS A BOARD MEMBER WITH CAUSE WITH OR WITHOUT A PUBLIC HEARING.

THE COUNTYCOMMISSIONERS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO PREPARE POLICIES FOR THE COUNTY WHICH APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE BOARDS AND MUST BE ADHERED TO. ALL POLICIES WILL BE FORWARDED TO THE BOARD ANNUALLY.

BYLAWS AND RULES AND REGULATIONS SHALL BE FILED WITH THE COUNTYCLERK WITHIN 10 DAYS OF ADOPTION.
