VPTC General Meeting Minutes
March 8, 2017 @ 7pm at Northpoint Multipurpose room
The meeting was called to order by President Clive MacRaild at 7:02 pm
A quorum (25% of membership) was in attendance.
Secretary’s Report – Karalee Drdul
M/S Joe Sparrow/Dale Bowen to approve the minutes of January 2017 General meeting as posted on the website. CARRIED
Recent policy development activity was summarized and updates in two areas were presented for discussion and approval by the membership.
M/S Karalee Drdul/Larry Warnke to approve the Team Organization policy as posted on the website. CARRIED
M/S Karalee Drdul/ Bonita Wilford to approve the Player Movement policy V2 as posted on the website.
M/S Dave Fedun/Willy Grueber to amend the motion to read “Move-ups will only occur when a player has earned and maintained at least the next rating level at season’s end. If this next rating level hasn’t been attained, there will be no appeal process for exception and unearned move-up.”

The original motion was then reconsidered. CARRIED
Treasurer’s Report – Kevin Bremness
Membership update – 354 paid playing members plus 6 social members (9 fewer than last year at this time)

Vice-President’s Report – Sharon Olson
Recognition
On behalf of Viewpoint Tennis, I would like to recognize Clive MacRaild who was both Vice President and President from January 2016 to present, in Bob Allan’s absence. This task was a tremendous amount of work.
I would like to also thank the Executive: Karalee Drdul (Secretary), Kevin Bremness (Treasurer) and Bob Allan (Past President) for their hard work this season.
The brochure for the Spring Fling on Friday, March 10 properly recognizes those volunteers who have made our tennis club so successful this season, virtually everyone in this room.
Upcoming Events
Good luck to those people who have entered the upcoming tournaments, which are posted on the Viewpoint website.
On Sunday, March 12, the ATGA group will be having a Tennis Carnival from 2-4:30pm at the East Courts. Signups are required.
The VP Tennis fundraiser, featuring the “Donny Grubb” band will be held on Tuesday, March 21 at Fat Willy’s from 5-9pm. Tickets for $10 each are still available from Joe & Sherry Sparrow, unit 1423.
Changes for 2017/18
Two years ago, we began a trial of the Hold My Courton-line court reservation system. Next year we propose to begin using a second feature of the system, to allow members to sign up for events such as round robins and invitational tournaments. Thanks to Ben Wilford for his assistance with this project.
To coordinate with other EVSTL teams in the league, matches should begin at 9am.
M/S Sharon Olson/Velesta Fusco that the court reservation times begin at 6:00am with increments of 90 minutes. CARRIED
Social Calendar update – reduced a few events, will finalize calendar before the March 15 new captains meeting, and post on the web.
Gail Hagert needs help in the garden at the east courts at 9:30 am tomorrow.
President’s Report – Clive MacRaild
Clive shared information about the ATGA proposed contract for the 2017/18 year.

EVSTL update – Ralph Sharp gave highlights of the TAC meeting today:
-Clubs can borrow from a sister team to help make lineups
-No borrowing of one player from the OM program
-Second deuce was turned down
-No widening of the tencap ranges
-Age waiver for move ups turned down
-6-6 rule will remain in place
-1-point flexibility rule confirmed for those either side of borderline between levels
-mid-season move-ups and move-downs (35 last year) will be considered for next year
-consideration of requests for players moving 2 levels in one year – may be considered individually by TAC on recommendation of clubs
-continued discussion on the 1.5/2.0 Tencap spread issue will occur
-reviewing the possibility of moving down to play a match (if correct Tencap number)
