Voyage with Christian Radich – important information

We have registered your application form and we look forward to welcome you onboard the Christian Radich for Atlantic crossing. Here is some important information:

Embarking two days before departure

These two nights are included in the voyage. It is possible to book one extra night. The local port authorities will decide the position of the ship in each port. On CR, you can see the ship`s position. Times of departure and arrival may be adjusted. Ample time must be calculated for all kinds of travelling arrangement before and after the voyage.

Payment

Enclosed please find your invoice. As soon as your deposit is paid, either by credit card or the enclosed invoice, you have confirmed your application. The entire voyage must be paid before departure. All payments must be registered with invoice-number.

Cancellation fee

More than 30 days before departure: The deposit will not be refunded. 15-30 days before departure: Pay 50% of the amount. Less than 15 days before departure: Full price.

Useful information

Enclosed please find the Christian Radich handbook, informing you about life onboard. We recommend you to read the booklet, but we do not expect you to know all the details! Information and training will be given the day before departure.

Bring along: a light sleeping bag. The weather will vary and you need everything from easy wear to warm clothes. We recommend socks and underwear of wool or “super-underwear”. Warm and weatherproof clothing, preferable Gore-Tex, cap/sunhat, hood, gloves, boots or Gore-Tex boots. The need for warm clothes will be bigger on voyage no 2. Towel and toiletries, if you use contacts, bring a double set. Remember your passport and papers. If you get a new passport between the time of booking and departure, please inform us about the new number so our information is updated.

Choose clothes that may take stains. There will be a limited possibility to wash your clothes. There is limited space for luggage onboard, please packin a soft bag, max. 120 liter. You should not bring a backpack or suitcase/bag with wheels

Cellular phones have no coverage when in open sea. Should the occasion rise that contact with next of kin is necessary, the crew and the office in Oslo will help.

Please tell the ships sergeant and your team leader if you use seasick medication or bandage. When using seasick medication you will not be allowed to enter the rig within a certain time after use. If you use any other kind of medication, please tell us when you book your voyage.

When at sea, the ship is ”dry”, i.e. totally alcohol restricted. When the ship is in port, you can enjoy a beer or a glass of wine. We are sailing under the Norwegian flag and all kind of drugs are totally forbidden.

There is a small souvenir shop where t-shirts, pullovers, postcards and toiletries, towels etc. can be purchased.
