Description of work involved / Volunteers will be removing exotic invasive plant species.
Hours volunteers can work / 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

5=physically demanding / 2-5
Volunteers will be working outside removing vines and gathering seeds.
Skills required / None.
Shady or full sun area / Mostly full sun but some shade.
Access to restroom facilities / Restroom facilities are located near boardwalk.

How often do volunteers need to work on site? / This is an ongoing project, but prior arrangements need to be made by contacting Katherine Hendrickson at Quiet Waters Park.
Tools and equipment provided / Shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows or carts, and other items as needed, gloves and trash bags.
Tools volunteers can bring if desired / Any specialty tools that volunteers want to use.
Personal items to bring / Sunscreen, hat, insect repellent, closed-toe shoes, gloves, water and/or snack, cell phone. Long pants and long-sleeved shirt recommended.
Personal Protective Equipment will be provided as needed / We will provide personal protective equipment as needed and instruct in proper use.

Volunteer Application Deadline / This project is available for both long-term and short-term volunteers. One-time volunteers should complete the Workday Volunteer Application; ongoing volunteers need to fill out the Volunteer Application, which includes a background check.
Orientation/Training / Volunteers must attend an initial training which will take place during the first half-hour of the workday.
Restrictions / Only plants that are provided by the park will be planted.
Only pesticides, herbicides, fertilizer, and mulch provided by park staff can be used.
Personal protective equipment will be worn when spraying or fertilizing.
Volunteers may only use herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers with proper training and under the direct supervision of staff with a chemical applicator license.
Extra comments / This project is part of an ongoing effort to remove exotic invasives from all of our parks to promote the health growth of native species.
