Volunteerand Communication Manager

Job Purpose: The Volunteer Service and Communication Manager will be responsible for all areas of Volunteer management and communication within the ECHO community.

Reporting to:Director of Operations

Location: Home Based with regular days in London to meet the needs of the service

Key Stakeholders: Members and their families, Volunteers, Fundraisers, Trustees, Evelina Children’s Hospital, external partners, service providers and theStaff Team.

Key Competencies: Volunteer management and development, newsletter and content writing, social media, financial management,project management, relationship building, membership-focused approach, Income generation.

General Responsibilities

  • Develop policies and procedure documents and processes to ensure ECHO working alongside trust volunteer guidelines.
  • To lead and develop volunteer lead membership services such as pre and ante-natal education days, come for a cuppa and social events.
  • Provide general telephone and email support to new members and existing members.
  • Signposting to other services and sources of support/information
  • Support income generation
  • Develop the use of the ECHO database to efficiently manage, communicate and ensure up-to-date information is held on all volunteers and fundraisers.
  • To proactively facilitate member-to-member support and relationships by recruiting volunteers.
  • To oversee external communications with members and to actively develop and enhance membership engagement.
  • Work within ECHO’s brand guidelines to ensure that all external communications are professional and consistent.
  • Provide regular communication with volunteers
  • To support the organisation, admin and delivery of ECHO events
  • To actively develop, monitor and implement initiatives with the Director to support members
  • To support the Director on tasks and activities as required, as well as deputising for the Director when appropriate and necessary.
  • Working to budget

Specific Duties

  • To write and edit the ECHO newsletter, managing production and distribution three times a year in its current form.
  • Write and send monthly e bulletins to members
  • Create regular contact with volunteers
  • Develop policies and procedures to grow the volunteer service and support more families in the Evelina, the local communities and district general hospitals.
  • Review of current materials with the ECHO team including publications, website, newsletters.
  • Work with the ECHO team to provide appropriate events for members: currently Christmas and Summer
  • To ensure the production of appropriate plans to implement and achieve themembership strategies agreed by/with the Director and Board.
  • Support Social media growth and development.
  • Introduce, update and renew policies within ECHO when required.
  • To ensure that ECHO has the right systems and to manage and recruit volunteers activity effectively, accountably and safely.
  • To work closely with and support the members of the ECHO team
  • Manage all ECHO Volunteers – in particular coordinating pre-natal, ante-natal day, ward visit rotas, liaison with and support of volunteers, DBS checks, organisation of Key Skills workshops etc.
  • Create a thank you and in touch event for volunteers (annually)
  • Review current volunteer recruitment, training and opportunities
  • Support the Director in identifying and establishing new ways to generate income for ECHO.
  • To take appropriate steps to protect ECHO from risk, particularly in relation to event health and safety and volunteer management.
