Overall purpose of volunteer role:
To assist the London Regional Volunteering Team with the delivery of two Volunteer Networking Days taking place on 24th October and the 9th November. The aim of these days is to inform volunteers on the latest work at Diabetes UK, sign up to new opportunities, learn new skills to carry out their roles, network and fed ideas into aspects of Diabetes UK’s work.
About the London Team
The London Regional Team aims to influence healthcare provision and improve services for people with diabetes at a local level, together with raising awareness. We work to support a network of volunteers across London who carry out diabetes type 2 risk assessments, help at roadshows and community events, co-ordinate local campaigns and run diabetes support groups.
Each year we organise a series of networking events for our volunteers. Our last Networking Day took place in March and 73 volunteers attended.
Main elements of volunteer role:
§ Assist with publicising the Networking Days
§ Support with handling the bookings and queries surrounding the Networking Days.
§ Support with logistics before the event including with putting together content for the delegate packs and organising resources for the event.
§ If available attend both of the Networking Days (October 24th and 9th November) and help out on the day with various roles.
§ Support with the evaluation and follow up of both of the Networking Days
Timescales
We hope that you will be able to volunteer:
· From Mid August to Mid November
§ 1-2 days per week - flexible - this can be negotiated to suit the situation.
§ Additional hours could be negotiated on an ad hoc basis by agreement with both parties and are available if requested.

What we are looking for:
§ Good communication skills, both written and spoken
§ Good interpersonal skills
§ Good organisational skills
§ Good IT skills and the ability to use Microsoft Office programmes
§ The ability to work as part of a team
§ Some experience of database work is desirable
§ Someone able to commit to the agreed hours and provide reliable support

The work you do for us is important to us and we value the rights that may exist in any work which you undertake. In some cases, it may be vital that we own and can prove we own such rights. Accordingly, we may ask you to complete, sign and return a separate assignment of such rights.
The purpose of this role description is to set out the expectations of both parties. It is not the intention of either party that the volunteering has the purpose or effect of creating a legally binding contract or an employment relationship between parties.
