Role Purpose / We are setting up an art group for people who have recently accessed the Crisis Centre. The group will meet twice per month and we aim to start this new rota April 2018.
The purpose of the group is to encourage people to express their feelings and emotions through drawing, painting and other forms of art. We aim to display the work within the Edinburgh Crisis Centre and at the Out of Sight out of Mind Mental Health Arts Festival.
We are looking for people with some experience in managing small groups of people (approx. 5 – 8 people) with artistic skills and comfortable working with people who may be in crisis.
If you are someone with experience in the above field or feel this opportunity is something you will be excited by, this rewarding and exciting volunteer position may be for you.
Specific Tasks / ·  Coordinating and facilitating group.
·  Ordering art supplies
·  Planning focused group work
Skills and Qualities Needed / Minimum age – 18
Open to working with a diverse range of service users including vulnerable adults with a non judgemental approach
Patient and able to work at pace of service user.
Creative/artistic qualification or passion.
Organising/facilitating group work
Respectful and approachable manner
Good written and verbal communication skills
Commitment / Two days per month (2 hours each day)
Flexible on days of week or time of day.
Support and Training / You will be given regular one to one guidance and support. During this support any relevant training that may be required will be identified and you will be offered suitable training to meet their need.
Expectations of Volunteers / ·  Willingness to abide by Volunteer Penumbra Policies
·  Willingness to use support systems
·  Co-operation with administrative tasks e.g. filling in expenses forms
·  Commitment to attend on-going training.
