Prices of Feed Ingredients

Corn:On December 1, 2004, the national average wholesale price of feed corn was US$145.7/MT, similar as last week. Recently the corn price in Northeast rose slightly and the price in North China fell slightly. Thanks to more and more corn will be supplied, but the corn consumption was not increasing at the same time. The corn price is foreseen to be stable in the near future. (Table 1).

Soymeal:On December 1, 2004, the national average wholesale price of soymeal was US$284.74/MT, down by 0.7% from last week. Soymeal prices are expected to be on falling with fluctuations in the near future due to the soybean and soymeal futures price continued to fall recently (Table 2).

Fishmeal:On December 1, 2004, the average price of fishmeal of main ports and producing provinces wasUS$659.48/MT, up by 1.8% from last week. Fishmeal price is forecasted to continue to rise in the near future (Table 3).

Amino acid:On December 1, 2004, the average price of lysine was 1.8% lower from last week, averaging at US$1,853/MT. The price is foreseen to keep stable in the near future.

The average price of solid methionine was US$2,742/MT, down by 3.24% from last week. And the price is foreseen to be steady with rise in the near future (Table 4, 5).

Weekly Prices Livestock Products

Pork:On December 1, 2004, at the pork wholesale markets of the 36 medium and large cities, the average price of fresh boned leg meat and lean pork (not tenderloin) was US$1.887/kg, 0.3% higher from last week. The price is foreseen to be steady with fall in the near future thanks to the breeding cost of live hog in North China and Northeast fell and the price of live hog also fell (Figure 1).

Beef:On December 1, 2004, at the beef wholesale markets of the 36 medium and large cities, the average price of fresh boned leg meat was US$1.952/kg, down by 0.2% from last week. Beef price is anticipated to be stable in the near future (Figure 2).

Mutton:On December 1, 2004, at the mutton wholesale markets of the 36 medium and large cities, the average price of bone-in fresh mutton was US$1.952/kg, down by 0.72% from last week. The national mutton price is foreseen to be stable in the near future (Figure 3).

Broilers: On December 1, 2004, at the broiler wholesale markets of the 36 medium and large cities, the average price of broiler’s white meat was US$1.108/kg, down by 2.6% from last week. Broiler price is foreseen to continue to fall in the near future.

During this week, the national average price of live broilers was US$1.227/kg in producing regions, down by 2.7% from last week. Live broiler price is foreseen to continue to fall in the near future (Figure 4).

Chicken Eggs:On December 1, 2004, at the markets of the 36 medium and large cities, the average retail price of fresh eggs was US$0.723/kg, down by 1.35% from last week. The price is foreseen to be stable in the near future (Figure 5).
