Volume II, Issue 2
Welcome to the monthly Midwest Apologetics newsletter. Each issue is designed to keep you informed on the latest news concerning the ministry.
Exciting News
We are very excited about some of the wonderful ministry opportunities that have already arisen this year. Living Waters Bible Camp in Westby, WI will be hosting three Creation Apologetics seminars throughout the year and they have invited Tim to be one of the speakers at each seminar. In addition, three speakers from Answers in Genesis will take part in these conferences. Carl Kerby will be the featured speaker at the May 12 – 13 conference. Mike Riddle will be on hand during the Family Camp (August 14 – 18) and Bodie Hodge will headline the November 10 – 11 conference. We hope and pray that these events will encourage believers in attendance to be bold in their faith. We also pray that Midwest Apologetics will receive several ministry opportunities in the future as a result of this conference.
Last Sunday, Tim spoke at The Great Adventure church in Dubuque, IA. This congregation is beginning to study the book of Genesis and asked Tim to give a defense of the literal 24-hour day position. We received numerous encouraging comments following the service. One gentleman told me that few people in the congregation had realized the importance of taking Genesis as written until they heard this talk.
Latest News
We mentioned last month that Tim wrote a lengthy research paper critiquing the theological arguments of old earth creationists (see The Futility of Old Earth Arguments). We asked a few old earth creationists to review it and offer their critiques. We have since been involved in some ongoing friendly debates about it. These debates have helped us to refine some of the arguments used and also brought to mind a few more faulty arguments used by old earthers. If you haven’t had a chance to read it yet, please take the time to do so and let us know what you think.
January was a wonderful month in many ways. Tim finally received an offer on the house they have been trying to sell since May. They are tentatively scheduled to close on February 20. Please pray that this situation would go smoothly. With the sale of the house, Tim has decided to continue his education at LibertyUniversity (if accepted). He will work on a Master of Divinity degree with an emphasis in Apologetics and Theology. He hopes to finish in two years. He might also have an opportunity to spend three weeks in San Diego this summer (right on the beach) while taking classes at The Institute for Creation Research.
January marked the most successful month so far for the website with nearly 700 hits a day. Josh and Tim continue to work on outreach possibilities in and around the Dubuque area. Please pray that God will continue to use them in this ministry.
