Vocational Training (Orientation/Application) (VT)

VT Process:

Clients must attend a VT Orientation, which is held on two different Wednesday afternoons per month from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. Clients need to bring an application for VT with them to the Orientation. At the Orientation, clients will be given an assignment to do one or more of the following: research training sites/classes/cost, make information interviews to employers in their field of study, or perform labor market research. The client then attends a VT interview with a committee of DHS and STS staff members for further evaluation. The client is then denied or accepted in the VT program based on the completion of the assignment and the case manager will be notified.

Referral Process:

The client is referred by the case manager to orientation. The PDP/VT referral form should be sent to: Dene’ Bowles Phone: 503-943-2264

Fax: 503-943-2042

The PDP will include the orientation date and be at least 2 weeks from the orientation date to allow time for the client to finish research and for STS to qualify the client for training.
