VMP Fuel Pump voltage booster instructions for 99-04 Mustang & Cobra, 05-10 Mustang & GT500,

and 11+ Mustang & GT500

The VMP fuel pump voltage booster amplifies and regulates the power going to the FPDM (Fuel Pump Driver Module). The FPDM provides a PWM voltage to the fuel pump(s), when higher voltages are available to the FPDM it is able to supply more power to the fuel pump and increase fuel flow.

One booster may be used for one or two fuel pump driver modules. The booster should be mounted in the trunk near the FPDM. It can be attached with double sided tape or self-taping screws.

The booster has 4 wires, the black one should be connected to ground, use a factory ground bolt near the FPDM.

The other two wires are power input and power output. The power input wire has a fuse holder and is red. It should be connected to the power wire coming from the vehicle (identified in the diagrams below). The power output wire is orange and should go to the FPDM(s). The brown wire should be left unconnected in almost all cases. Optionally, it may be connected to a ground or +12v source to turn the voltage boosting functionality OFF and act as a regulator only (VBAT).

*You will need to replace your factory fuel pump fuse (usually 15 or 20amp) with a 30amp fuse. On 07-09 GT500s the secondary FPDM fuse is located on the strut tower, in addition to the fuse in the underhood fuse box.

99-04 Mustang, cut the wire going to Pin 9 on the connector and splice in the booster. *03-04 cobra uses a different color wire.

Cut pin 5 the white wire and splice in the booster. The secondary FPDM (passenger side) on GT500s will use a different color wire, but the pin location will be the same. Note, in the event you blow a fuse and have no fuel pressure, 07-09 GT500s feed the secondary fuel pump using Fuse #66 in the underhood fuse box. In the case of 07-10 GT500, when installing a single booster, only power it from the drivers side FPDM. Upgrad the fuse in the fusebox to a 30amp mini fuse (supplied)

Cut pin 1 and splice in the booster. The secondary FPDM (passenger side) on GT500s will use a different color wire, but the pin location will be the same.
