Monday

1.Pattern Test Review:

a.Get to a clean page in your sketchbook.

b.Label this page: The Five Pattern Types. Create a space for all five pattern types on your paper.

c.Find and paste an example of each pattern type found in magazines.

d.Label each type of pattern.

2. American Radial Balance Project: For your next unit on Balance, you will need to use symbols that stand for the United States of America. We will brainstorm symbols on the board and see previous students'

examples. Radial Balance must be either the entire artwork or a significant part of it.

3.There is a contest about American themed art that you may enter this artwork in. Only positive messages about the USA will be entered into the contest. Please create your own symbols or find on the internet several symbols or photos that stand for the United States in your opinion. Save or bookmark these for later.

Duesday

1.Peer assess a classmate's Patterned Portrait. You must show where all five pattern types are illustrated.

2. Continue research and sketching symbols for the United States of America.

Wednesday

1.Pattern Test

2.Teacher assesses your magazine patterns: hang on the wall, please.

3.Read next project: Radial Balance Mandala, Art Talk, pages 244-245.

4.View the "How to Equally Divide a Circle"powerpoint on your teacher's website.

Practice cutting circle in equal parts. Decide how many slices you will need for your radial symmetry.
