Vipers Spring Break Out Tournament

April 8th and 9th, 2017

Welcome to our annual Vipers Spring Break Out Girls AAU Basketball Tournament. Our goal is to provide teams with a positive experience throughout our tournament. We want the players to have fun, work hard, and enjoy the game of basketball. Below are a few guidelines and rules which apply at all venues.

Team Guidelines:

·  Teams must have numbered jerseys that are two different colors for home and away. Players who wear shirts under their jerseys must wear shirts of the same color.

·  Home team is listed first on the schedule. Home teams should wear white/light uniform.

·  Home team will be official book. Teams are expected to provide their own bookkeepers.

·  Vipers Basketball will provide score board and clock operators.

·  Please plan on showing up at your game no less than 20 minutes before the start of your game. Our goal is to keep this tournament on schedule.

·  This is an AAU sanctioned event. All players and coaches must be registered with AAU.

Game Format:

·  Each team will play four games - two games on both Saturday and Sunday.

·  Each game will consist of two sixteen minute halves for 7th grade and higher; fourteen minute halves for 5th and 6th grades.

·  Games will be played with a women’s size 28.5 ball provided by Vipers.

·  Two foul shots will be awarded on the opposing teams 10th team foul of each half, as well as for shooting fouls. (No ‘one and one’ after seven fouls.)

·  Each game will be preceded by a 5 minute warm-up time. Each half will also be 5 minutes in length.

·  Each team will have two full timeouts (60 seconds) per half that will not carry over - use them or lose them.

·  Overtime - There will be a 3 minute overtime period, followed by a 2 minute second overtime period if needed, and finally, followed by sudden death (first team to score wins).

·  Point Differential - Running time will be used in the event that one team leads by 20 points or more. Stopped time begins when opposing team pulls to within 15. No pressing by leading team when ahead by 20 or more points. Please be respectful of this rule.

Sportsmanship: Sportsmanship is a high priority at this tournament. The following guidelines will be followed:

·  Technical Fouls - Any player/coach that receives two technical fouls in a single contest will be removed from that contest, and will be forced to sit the following contest. In the event that a coach is ejected from a game, he/she may not coach a different age group until the one game suspension has been met. Only the head coach will be allowed to communicate with officials from the sidelines, and must do so in a respectful manner.

·  Discussions with game officials must be appropriate and carried out in a respectful manner.
