For both beginning and advancing students, Amadeus Strings offers only high quality European violins & violas. All rentals consist of an outfit that includes a hand carved violin/viola, natural horsehair bow, case, rosin and a shoulder rest. Insurance is included in your rental fee, protecting you in case of damage of the instrument. In case the instrument requires repair, we provide a temporary loaner free of extra charge. Our equity program allows you to apply money from your rental fee towards the purchase of a violin/viola or outfit from Amadeus Strings. Equity accrues at 100% of the first year’s rental fee (excluding insurance and tax), plus 40% of the second year, plus 20% of each additional year.

* All rental customers must provide a valid credit card. The initial payment which includes first three (3) months plus beginning student package fee will be charged to your credit card before receipt of the instrument.

Rental Contract

The violin/viola/cello outfit you are renting is the sole property of Amadeus Strings. You may not sell it or move it to another state. You must notify Amadeus strings if you change address or phone.

The rental term and start date covered by this contract are noted on the payment information sheet. At the end of the term, the instrument must be returned, or the contract will be automatically extended for three (3) months.

The renter must provide a valid credit card. The initial payment which includes first three (3) months fees + beginning student package fees will be charged to your credit card before receipt of the instrument - these fees are non-refundable. Rental fees are due in advance, and will be charged every three (3) months during the term of this contract.

The Amadeus equity program allows you to apply some percentage of rental fees towards purchase of a violin/viola/cello or outfit. Rental credit accrues at 100% of the first year’s rental fee (excluding insurance and tax), plus 40% of the second year, plus 20% of each additional year. Rental credit may be applied towards 50% of the purchase price of any violin/viola or outfit (violin/viola, bow, case) from Amadeus Strings. Rental credit must be applied to purchase within 30 days of return of the rental instrument.

The violin/viola/cello outfit shall be returned to Amadeus Strings, 105 Wennington Dr., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603, or at a location mutually agreeable at the end of the rental period.

The instrument is insured against damage by Amadeus Strings. All repairs and adjustments to the violin or bow must be made by Amadeus Strings. While the instrument is being repaired, a loaner violin will be supplied upon request, free of charge. Broken strings are not covered and are the responsibility of the renter.

If the instrument needs to be returned before the end of the contract term, fees will be prorated at the full rental rate, plus a restocking fee of $20.00. Renter also agrees to pay all shipping & handling charges related to returning the instrument.

In the event the violin , viola or cello is lost or stolen, the renter assumes responsibility for the full value of the rental violin outfit of $600 (size 1/4-3/4), or $650 (size 4/4), viola outfit of $650 (size 11”-13”) or $750 (14”-15”), and cello outfit of $1400 (size 1/4-3/4), or $1550 (size 4/4),

Accessories such as shoulder pads are included in the rental fee. When the instrument is returned, such accessories should be returned or a fee will be charged.

There will be a $20.00 exchange fee charged if exchange (to a larger size) of violin/viola/cello is needed during the rental period. This fee is payable at the time of exchange at Amadeus Strings.

Amadeus strings may repossess an instrument if the rental fee is not paid within 60 days. Repossession terminates this agreement but does not relieve a parent or guardian of rental charges (including legal fees).

Amadeus strings has the right to refuse to lease an instrument based on the results of credit investigation.
