APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

“ Moved by Councillor Mersereau and Seconded by Councillor Daley that the May 22, 2017 Minutes be accepted as distributed “ Motion Carried.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

Moved by Councillor Webb and Seconded by Councillor Mersereau that the Agenda be accepted as distributed.” Motion Carried.

DELEGATIONS & PETITIONS:

Stephen McAlinden, general manager of planning and development, and regional development officer of the Regional Service Commission 11 went over the services they provide to their Municipal Partners.

The RSC11 will also assist in the creation of the Municipalities Asset Management for a cost of @5,000.

Also discussed was a schedule of fees compared with other Municipalities and LSD’s. This will be discussed again when preparing the new budget.

Sue Theriault provided council with a tentative schedule for Come Home Week as she is scheduling activities leading up to the grand opening of the new emergency complex on Aug 12th.

Roger Nason reported that the new flower baskets are up.

The new port a potty has been installed at Peterson’s Park for the convenience of visitors.

The SEED summer student will begin on the 19th with the 4 CSJ students starting on the 26th.

Roger reported he heard back from the Province re: mitigation funding for any estimated costs from the Rain storm Sept/Oct’15.

Storm Drain on Wilsey Rd – An up to date estimate has been received.

Municipal Service Easement – Follow up with NB Southern.

Water Billing Rates – The policy for the water billing rates is to be reviewed

and revised.

Policing & Dog Control:

Ø  Councillor Mersereau: Received the May fire report.

Water & Sewer:

Ø  Councillor Mersereau: More elevation shots need to be done at 142 Wilsey Rd.

Ø  Received new estimate for work on Wilsey Rd.

Fire Department:

Ø  Councillor Bigger: Absent

COMMITTEE REPORTS CONTINUED:

Public Works:

Ø  Councillor Daley: The tree lines on Diamond Square are to be cut back further for the new lines being installed.

Ø  The work done upgrading Diamond Square Rd is complete and looks great.

Ø  Parts of Wilsey Rd are beyond patching and require major work.

Finance & Administration:

Ø  Councillor Webb: Received 2 more students from the Canada Summer Jobs. They will all start work on the 26th.

Recreation:

Ø  Councillor Webb: The AGM for the Tri County Complex is Tuesday the 13th.

Land Use Planning,

Solid Waste/Recycling:

Ø  Mayor Mersereau: The lawyers have the surveying information for 202 Sunbury Dr.

Ø  Attended the RSC11 Meeting re: Economic Development Plan.

Mayor’s Report:

Ø  Mayor Mersereau: Attended the Karen Ludwig’s open house and was presented with a Canada 150 flag.

Ø  Attended the Ladies Auxiliary 70th Anniversary dinner at the Legion.

Ø  Attended the UMNB Zone Meeting. Did not reoffer for board member.

Ø  Will be attending the work shop on Code of Conduct and Local Government Act.

NEW BUSINESS:

First Reading of By-Law 2017-01 – “Moved by Councillor Webb and Seconded by Councillor Daley to have the First Reading of By-Law 2017-01, A By-Law of the Village of Fredericton Junction to Repeal By-Law s #7 and 7B, be read in its Entirety.” Motion Carried. First Reading of By-Law 2017-01 was read in its Entirety.

Second Reading of By-Law 2017-01 – “ Moved by Councillor Webb and Seconded by Councillor Daley to have the Second Reading of By-Law 2017-01, A By-Law of the Village of Fredericton Junction to Repeal By-Laws #7 and 7B, be read by Title.” Motion Carried. Second Reading of By-Law 2017-01 was read by its Title.

PAYMENT OF BILLS:

“ Moved by Councillor Webb and Seconded by Councillor Daley that the bills be paid as approved by the appropriate Councillor.” Motion Carried.
