Villa Oleander – Corfu

To help prepare for your holiday we have sent you some pre-departure information

The villa will be available from 15:00 on the day of arrival. This will give us time to prepare the villa for you, as we want it to look perfect for when you arrive.

We will have some basic in for you which include: Bread, Butter, Jam portions, tea, Coffee, Sugar, Milk and water, so you don’t need to buy those on the first day.

If you would like to do some shopping prior to arriving we can suggest the following supermarkets:

LIDL - Probably the best supermarket for fresh fruit, vegetables, beers, wines and spirits. This supermarket is probably the best to go to for most of your shopping.

Here are the directions from the airport to Lidl:

0.0 Kms. Turn left at the “T” junction. You will pass the runway on the left and go through some traffic lights. Follow the road to a further junction with traffic lights and the BP Garage.

0.9 Kms. Turn right at the BP Garage/Karcher car wash and follow the signs for PELEKAS. Go half way down the road and turn first right. You'll see a car wash place on the right, follow the road to the bottom and turn right and then left onto the dual carriageway.Follow the road to the bottom. Lidl is just opposite slightly to the left down a dip.

DIELLAS: Probably the best for all other items you can’t get at Lidl. There is a good butcher section in here. They also sell fresh bread. DIELLAS is approximately 3 Kms on the right hand side of the road coming from the airport; it has a green sign with yellow writing.

AFRA MINI MARKET: Is at the top of the road just on the left. Good for basic items and bread. Limited supplies

as it’s only a mini market.

Afra Bakery: Located at the new roundabout. Fresh bread baked daily along with other cakes and biscuits. The lady speaks excellent English.

There is a well in Afra Villa which has purified water and is free. We have a water container which we will fill so you don’t need to buy bottled water, unless you prefer.

The nearest beach to the villa is PELEKAS BEACH. It is signposted on the way to the villa. There are also plenty of tavernas to choose from in the village of Pelekas.

MOSQUITOS: Ideally before you travel you should take VITAMIN B1 tablets which are quite reasonable from a health food shops. You should take these approximately 2 weeks before you travel and during your holiday. Vitamin B1 has an effect on your skin which is offensive to mosquitoes but has no trace to humans, so therefore they avoid you. If you are not allergic to PURE CITRONELLA OIL dap it on your ankles and at the back of your neck, again this can be bought from health food shops. (Get these before you travel). All other repellents can be bought locally.

If we are not at the villa when you arrive, the key will be on the outside of the door. We will let you settle in and come to visit you later that day. We will be able to show you how the appliances work etc., and help you get orientated with the villa and the surrounding area. We will be available to help you throughout your stay to offer you any help, advice and information you require, however we will respect your privacy. All linen is changed weekly on Sunday or Monday.
