REPORT ON OBSERVANCE OF ‘VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK-2011’ (31st October, 2011 to 5th November, 2011) IN CENTRAL PULP & PAPER RESEARCH INSTITUTE, SAHARANPUR

As per the directives of Central Vigilance Commission Circular No.09/07/11 dated 12.9.2011, ‘Vigilance Awareness Week-2011’ was observed from 31st October to 5th November, 2011 at Central Pulp & Paper Research Institute, Saharanpur. This year the theme of observing Vigilance Awareness Week is “Participative vigilance”. All the officials of the Institute were timely intimated and appraised about the manner in which the said period was to be observed.

Quite a few posters and banners were displayed in prominent places so as to catch the attention of Officers and employees and make them to think of the perceived need to fight corruption tooth and nail.

The observance of Vigilance Awareness Week commenced with taking of the pledge on 31st October, 2011 at 11.00 AM. In CPPRI Auditorium, pledge was taken by all the officials under the leadership of Dr.R.M.Mathur, Director, CPPRI.

After the pledge, the message of the Her Excellency, President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil and Hon’ble Prime Minister, Sri Man Mohan Singh was read out by Chief Vigilance Officer, Dr.R.K.Jain to the audience.

On this occasion, Director, Dr.R.M.Mathur conveyed his message. He said ‘The word corruption means the destruction, ruining or the spoiling of a society or a nation. A corrupt society stops valuing integrity, virtue or moral principles. It changes for the worse. Such a society begins to decay and sets itself on the road to self destruction’.

Chief Vigilance Officer, Dr.R.K.Janin also expressed his views on this occasion.

In the last, Convener, Shri M.P.Sharma ended the meeting with thanks to all the officials for attending the programme.
