As lakeshore owners and/or residents, we are keenly aware of the need to keep our lake water clean. We have a special responsibility to do whatever we can to keep pollution out of the water and to educate our friends and neighbors to do the same. The primary focus of your lake association is keeping the water as clean as possible. If you have any ideas or concerns about this or any other lake issues, please contact any board members. Our association is only as strong and effective as its members

Walleye Stocking Update:

The Lake Victoria Association is in the third year of a five yearcommitment to stock Walleyes inLake Victoria. On behalf of the association, theboardhas agreed tocontribute $500 each year plus $5.00 per each paid membership, along with designated fish stocking donations andproceeds from sales of Lake Victoria apparel. The actual amount of this year'sdonation will be determined in the fall of 2008 after all funds are collected. For the 2007, year we put 242 pounds of Walleye stock into the lake!

Boat Parade – July 4th

The Annual Boat Parade will start at 11:00am by the public access. Decorate your boat and enjoy a cruise around the lake! Last year’s winners will judge the entries and will pass their trophy on to the new winners.

Association potluck picnic date set to July 20th

The VictoriaLake association meeting and picnic will be held on July 20th at 1:00pm in FoslienPark. At this time you can meet other members, hear a report from the board, and enjoy the good food that comes with a potluck event. There will also be drawings for prizes! In case of poor weather, we will have it at the UnitedMethodistChurch fellowship hall.

Lake Victoria Sweatshirts & T-Shirts

We have a good selection of sizes and colors available. They range in children’s size through adult XL sizes. There are short sleeve t-shirts, long sleeve t-shirts, and sweatshirts with the Lake Victoria emblem screen printed on them available. Also there are one XL and two large sweatshirts with the Lake Victoria emblem embroidered on them.

The money made from these shirts will go towards buying fish for stocking in 2008. Contact a board member if you are interested in a shirt.

Kids Contests

Contest #1 My Favorite Day on Lake Victoria
Write an article about your favorite day on Lake Victoria and receive $25.00 if your article is published in the news letter. Contest will cover the four seasons, summer, fall, winter and spring. Each entrant will be able to enter four times if their article has not been published. You can write one article each on each of the four seasons. Example: summer would include boating, fishing tubing, etc., fall would include fishing, enjoying the colors, etc., winter would include fishing, snowmobiling, etc., and spring would include the sounds of spring, birds arriving etc.
Rules:
1.Your family must be a paid current member of Lake Victoria Lake Assn.
2. The article must be about a day you spent and enjoyed on Lake Victoria. It could be about swimming, water skiing, tubing, fishing, the fall colors, parade or what ever made your day special.
3. The contest is open through 16 years of age.
4. Include your name, age, address and phone number.
5. An entrant may only win once per year.

7. Entries will be judged by the Lake Victoria board and consideration will be given to the age of the entrant.
8. All entrants must be typed and be between 200-500 words.
9. All submitted articles must be done by the youth submitting it..
10. Entries are due: July 12, 2008
All winners will be recognized at the annual picnic.
Contest #2 Essay open to all youths from ages 8 to16.
This years essay topic is: What can I do, as an individual, to help keep Lake Victoria clean so future generations can enjoy the lake like we do?.
Length of essay must be no less than 300 words.
Entry must be received by July 12, 2008 and will be judged by the board members.

Lake Victoria Membership Form

Your membership is vital to preserving our lake’s water, shoreline, and wildlife. Membership dues are $25 this year. Below are just some of the items your dues help pay for:

  • $5 of each membership goes towards purchasing Walleyes for the stocking program. Pictures are available on our website
  • $2 of each membership goes to help fund the Douglas County Lakes Association which works on behalf of all the lakes in the County.
  • Water quality testing; the results can be viewed on our website.
  • Kids contests and programs

Remember to send in your dues and also keep it in mind when visiting with your neighbors. Also, we are always looking for new board members and directors. It only takes about 1 hour’s time each month from May to October.
