Prayers and Intentions - “I said a special prayer for you, As Christmas Day draws near, that God would bless you richly, throughout the coming year. I did not ask Him to send, you gifts of worldly wealth; but prayed that He would fill your life, with Peace, and Joy and Health.” (Author Unknown)
Let us pray for the safety of those who have to travel to be with their family. Let us remember our loved ones; those close to us, those far away, and those that have returned to God. Let us remember in prayer, that together we are a community.

“Loving God, help us remember the birth of Jesus that we may share in the song of angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and worship of the wise men. Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world. Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting. Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry with clear hearts. May the Christmas morning make us happy to be thy children, and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven for Jesus’ sake.” By Robert Louis Stevenson

Kindergarten Registration in January

Thinking about kindergarten for this fall? Now’s the time to come in and register your child! Our school is friendly, safe, welcoming and ready to help each of our students reach their full potential. We nurture faith, encourage excellence in learning and inspire students to reach out and help others – at home and around the world. Children who will be five years old by January 31, 2019 can begin kindergarten in Fall 2018. You may also learn more at www.gscs.sk.ca. For more information about our school and/or how to register, please call St. Mark School at 306-659-7390.

Pre-Kindergarten Registration in January

St. Mark School is now accepting registrations for students who wish to begin Pre-Kindergarten in the fall of 2018. When your child turns three or four years of age, you are then eligible to apply for this program. Pre-Kindergarten is a subsidized program therefore there is a maximum of sixteen students in each class. Students are not selected by first come basis but are selected by application information. We hold four classes. Two classes on Monday & Wednesdays; two classes on Tuesday and Thursdays. Transportation may be provided. Those interested in this program are encouraged to call Mrs. Danyluk at 659-7778 or Miss Moldenhauer at St. Mark School at 306-659-7779.

At St. Mark School we find that our orientation evening is not always a convenient date for all parents interested in these programs therefore rather than having an orientation evening, we are available for parents to walk into the school at any time during the school day for a short orientation of either program.

Congratulations to the St. Mark Choir

The St. Mark School Choir consists of 53 fabulous voices that learned and mastered thirteen Christmas carols in a very short time. These students performed at TCU Place in the Noon Festival of Carols on Tuesday, December 5th and did a spectacular job. They performed at two of our many sponsors, Best Buy and Staples (Blairmore). Brighten your holidays; bring our music to your home; watch for GSCS choirs on Shaw 10 through the holidays. For a Youtube of the St. Mark Choir’s performance at TCU Place, view them on Youtube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KndkP-q8qLE

Parking - Thank you to all who are using street parking when dropping off your children. To ensure the safety of your children, please talk to them about using the safety patrols and the “crosswalk only” when you drop them off at the school. Remember that the parking lot is extremely hazardous for students to enter and is over capacity for our staff use therefore non-staff may be ticketed if they use the parking lot.

CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FROM FR. GERARD

My Dear Friends in Christ,

Every Advent my heart turns towards this humble prayer composed by Blessed John Henry Newman as I prepare to encounter once again the great gift of the divine life that is both opened and shared with us during the days of Christmas. So intimate is our Savior’s coming that we can share his divine love with one another. As you come before the humble presence of the Nativity Scene to see the Savior of the world and hear his Word proclaimed to every nation, may you experience the gift of communion in your heart with the living God:

“Dear Jesus, help us to spread your fragrance everywhere we go. Flood our souls with your spirit and life. Penetrate and possess our being so utterly that our lives may only be a radiance of yours. Shine through us, and be so in us that every soul we come in contact with may feel your presence in our souls. Let them look up and see no longer us, but only Jesus! Stay with us, and then we shall begin to shine as you shine; so to shine as to be a light to others. The light, O Jesus, will be all from you, none of it will be ours; it will be you shining on others through us.

Let us thus praise you in the way you love best: by shining on others through us. Let us preach you without preaching, not by words but by our example, by the catching force, the sympathetic influence of what we do, the evident fullness of the love our hearts bear to You. Amen (John Henry Newman)

Blessings and Prayers in the Divine Light of Christ,
Father Gerard Cooper
