CHOIR UPDATE: This club is open for students in grades 3-5. The first choir day will be on Tuesday, November 8 at lunch time. Permission forms will be going out this week.

SKATING: Our weekly Wednesday skating slot at the AWG has begun for this school year. We have some skates and helmets in school for students to borrow. If you have any at home you are no longer using, feel free to drop off at the school. Each Wednesday a different group of homeroom classes will skate. We are always looking for parents to help tie skates at the arena. We leave here by bus at 1:10pm and arrive back to school at 2:40pm.

BAKING CLUB: Baking club will begin October 14 for grade 4’s and October 21 for grade 5’s. Please ensure if your child is staying, they have a lunch in the building BEFORE the bell. Please pay close attention to the alternating baking schedule for the year:

Grade 4’s: October 14, November 4, December 2, January 6, January 20, February 3, February 24, March 10, March 31, May 5

Grade 5’s: October 21, November 25, December 9, January 13, January 27, February 10, March 3, March 17, April 7, May 12

CULTURE DAY: Our culture committee is in the beginning stages of planning a school wide cultural day for all our students. We are hoping to set up 13 stations (number of classes) where students would rotate through over the course of the day to all 13 stations (15-20 min). Therefore, we want our community experts to help! If you are available to be in the school for a day to offer your experience and expertise with our students about any of the following, please call Sonja at 9-6207: carving, string games, shadows, Inuit games, skin cleaning, Inuit stories, drumming/singing, throat singing, traditional tattooing, dancing, tools, or anything we may have missed. We would like to end the day with a fashion show! We look forward to hearing from you!
