Coffee Mornings

  • The next PTA Coffee Morning will be held in the school on 3 February 2017.
  • The proceeds of the Coffee Morning on 23 March will go towards the Lenten Fundraising.

Craft Fayre

The Craft Fayre made a net profit of £1800.00 which was very satisfying.

The Committee were pleased with such a positive outcome bearing in mind that it was the new Committee’s first Fayre and the additional difficulties posed by the new environment/layout.

  • It was agreed there were too many items in the Tombola.
  • The Children’s Tombola was a success with every child receiving a ‘prize’ but there will be more prizes next year (not limited to one ‘ticket’ per person).
  • The number of stallholders was reduced but this was a necessity due to the reduction of space available in the smaller classes.
  • The organisation in the kitchen will be ‘tweaked’ for next year.

Mr McGuire felt that the Committee were being too over-critical and thanked them (and everyone who participated – including staff and senior pupils) for their time and efforts – the new school environment posed different issues to the Commercial Road building but the event was a rousing success. The main purpose continues to be to promote the school within the community and build on the strong partnership working that exists in St. Patrick’s – the money is a big bonus!

The many visitors praised the welcoming ethos and many of the stallholders said they would “definitely be back next year.”

Christmas

  • Christmas Parties:Monday 19 December – Nursery Party and P1-3 Party

Tuesday 20 December – P4-7 Party

Arrangements are in hand.

  • The PTA will pay for the pantomime, Mrs Claus’ Christmas Caper in the Ballgreen Hall.

Strathaven Bonfire Night

The school received £75.00 from the Round Table for the sale of tickets for their event in Strathaven Park on Saturday 5 November 2016.

Website

In 2014 the PTA agreed to fund the cost of the new website to enable it to be expanded to include discrete pages for the Parent Council, PTA and Parish at a cost of £50.00 per year. It was agreed by the Parent Council at their meeting on 28/11/16 that our means of communication was very good and that the website fulfils all the school/nursery needs as it is updated as and when necessary:

“based on the experiences of other schools the use of social media was ruled out on the grounds that it was open to abuse and difficult to monitor and control. It is also too great a departure from the current state of affairs.”

The PTA endorsed this view.

Mr McGuire presented Mr Brien with an invoice for £50.00 which he is happy to pay.

Family Event

Various suggestions were given regarding the format and venue for a Family Night.

This will discussed more fully at the next meeting.
