INFORMATION NOTE FOR PARTICIPANTS

1.  Venue

The meeting will be held at the International Conference Centre of Météo-France in Toulouse from 26 to 30 may. This is approximately 7 km south-west of Central toulouse, 10 km south of Toulouse airport.

2.  Participants Registration

Registration of participants will take place at the meeting venue indicated above starting on 26 May 2008.

3.  Working language

The working language will be English only.

4.  Entry requirements

An official invitation letter could be issued by Météo-France on request for those requiring a visa to enter France for the purpose of the meeting.

5.  How to find us

If you are arriving by train, take the subway A line from Matabiau Station to Basso Cambo (terminus), then with the same ticket take bus nr 8 going to Lycée Polyvalent. The bus will stop in front of Météo-France. Journey time about 30 minutes.

If you are arriving from Toulouse-Blagnac airport, the quickest way to Météo-France is by taxi, journey time about 10 minutes.

Alternatively, take a “Navette bus”shuttle to Toulouse Centre. Stop at Matabiau Station and proceed as above with subway and bus. Navettes depart every 20 minutes, journey time about 60 minutes. Tickets can be purchased on the bus.

From Toulouse Centre, the quickest way to Metro-France is by subway line A to Basso Cambo.

6.  Hotel Accommodation

Please let us know if you would like us to reserve hotel accommodation for you by completing the relevant section of the attached registration form. Météo-France has special rates at some hotels in the centre of Toulouse.

Alternatively rooms could be reserved for participants in the student residence of Météo-France School of Meteorology. The accommodation rate is 7.50 € per night. Accommodation costs have to be paid in cash (in €) directly upon arrival or on the day of departure not later than 10 a.m. Rooms are not available over the week-end.

7.  Network access

A wireless network can be accessed in the Conference Centre. The login script will ask you for username and password. The username and the password will be announced at the beginning of the meeting.

8.  Electricity and modem connections

The mains supply in France is 220V. If you wish to use an electrical appliance, you will need an international adaptor plug.

9.  Currency and credit cards

Local currency is the Euro. Visa, Diners, American Express and Mastercard are all widely accepted. You may find that a supplement is often charged for using Diners and American express type of card.

There is a large variety of banks in the centre of Toulouse. A cash point is available within the Meteopole in the restaurant area.

10. Security

On arrival you will be issued with a name badge which doubles as a security pass. Access can be denied by the security guard if you are unable to show him the badge on request. For security reasons you must pass the security each day on arrival and departure.

11. Restaurant

The Restaurant is open every day from 12:00 to 13:30. Lunch menus are displayed in the Restaurant entrance. The Restaurant is self-service. Coffee/tea will be supplied during the breaks as specified on the meeting agenda. In addition to this, coffee is available from vending machines located in the main hall of the Conference Centre.

12. Fire rules

Please when arriving in the Conference Centre read the fire rules which explain what to do in the event of a fire.

·  From the A62 Highway Paris-Bordeaux, follow the Foix-Tarbes roadsigns. Exit at Exit 27: La Cépière. Follow the roadsigns: Cugnaux, Les Pradettes, then Météo-Cerfacs.

·  From the A61 Highway Montpellier-Carcassonne, follow the Aéroport Blagnac road signs, then exit at 27: La Cépière. Follow the roadsigns: Cugnaux, Les Pradettes, then Météo-Cerfacs.

·  From the Blagnac Airport, follow the Auch signs, then take the Arc-En-Ciel motorway towards Lardenne-Cugnaux-Tournefeuille. Exit at Parc d’activités Basso-Cambo and follow the Météo-Cerfacs roadsigns.
