Verwood Day Nursery News

December 2014

Happy Christmas

May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Sad farewell

Our Chef Phil is moving onto to pastures new and will sadly be leaving us at Christmas.

Phil has been such an asset to the nursery and has successfully gained a 5 star rating for his food hygiene inspection for 3 years in a row and has helped us implement a wonderful menu for the children (and staff!). I am sure that he will do well in his new role as Chef Manager at Bournemouth Collegiate School, but I also know he will miss many of the children and the staff too!

Replacing Phil is Angela Eastwood. Angela comes to us from the Harbour Heights Hotel where she held the position of head pastry chef for 8 years. She has been working alongside Phil which has allowed her to get to know the kitchen and us as well all in preparation for her first day on January the 2nd.

I am sure you will all join me in wishing both Phil and Angela all the best in their new roles.

Food hygiene – full house!

Last week our Ringwood Nursery had their food hygiene inspection too and along with our Bournemouth setting, Redhill Day Nursery and us here at Verwood we have all achieved the highest rating of 5 stars in 2014!

The smell of paint!

I am sure you have all noticed the smell of paint in the air as you enter the nursery. Since November we have been undertaking our programme of refurbishments and the whole nursery is receiving a fresh coat of paint inside and in some areas outside too, along with new lighting and new carpets and vinyl flooring being laid downstairs between Christmas and New Year. The conservatory will also undergo a facelift and be transformed into an amazing quiet space for the children to enjoy stories and books. It will be like a new nursery!

New coat pegs

We will be installing new coat pegs downstairs to allow ALL the children to hang up their belongings each day. However the number of pegs provided will only accommodate our daily maximum and we will therefore be unable to leave bags and coats hanging on pegs for children that aren’t attending.

We will be providing storage space in the garage for left over bags and coats but would appreciate it if children’s belongings could be taken home at the end of each session.

PLEASE REMEBER TO CLEARLY LABEL YOUR CHILDS BELONGINGS

From January 2015 please remember that we will no longer be able to accept payments made via cheque or cash.

Payments can be made via BACS and our bank details are given on each months invoices.

Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

New phone number at home or at work??

Please don’t forget to update us when you or your chosen emergency contact make any changes any of your contact details. Do we have the correct email address, mobile number, home address and phone number and work details for you? We need to be able to contact you in an emergency.

Good luck Maisie!

Maisie will be starting her maternity in the New Year as she prepares herself for the impending arrival of her twins and enjoys a well deserved rest while she can!

Taking over Maisie’s position in the baby room team, while she is on maternity leave is Vickie. You all know Vickie as she has been part of our bank staff team for some time now and she is very much looking forward to being here every day!We will keep you updated with news on Maisie and the twins.

Adventures with Rosie

From January 2015 our 4 year olds will have an exciting opportunity to explore Potterne Park with Rosie leading the activities.

Once a week the children will have a planned outing around the park to explore the environment, understand the seasons and the weather and discuss what they see and find.On their return to the nursery, Rosie will be compiling a diary of what the children have done and along with photographs this will then be emailed to the parents of each child that participated.

A 4 week plan will be shared with those parents whose children will be participating.

Referral reward

Our second family will benefit from the referral reward this month of £100 as a thank you for referring a friend to Verwood Day Nursery. Well done, thank you and keep referring!
