Transport

By tram

  • The nearest tram stop is Stop 16, located in front of the National Gallery of Victoria.
  • This is a platform tram stop providing level access to low floor trams, passenger shelter and protection from traffic.
  • Melbourne Recital Centre is a short walk down Southbank Boulevard (approximately 200 metres).
  • This stop is serviced by routes 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 16, 64, 67, 72.

By train

  • The nearest station isFlinders Street.
  • Walking distance – Approximately 10 minutes.

By bus

  • Melbourne Bus Link operates 3 routes along Southbank Boulevard: Route 216, 219, 220.
  • The Melbourne City Tourist Shuttle runs in a loop through Melbourne’sCBDevery 15 minutes, and stops at the corner of Southbank Boulevard and Kavanagh Street (Stop 10).
  • Walking distance – Approximately 5 minutes.

Parking

  • Limited on-street parking is available around Southbank.
  • Accessible parking spaces are available in both Sturt Street and Dodds Street (limited spaces in both areas).

There are two nearby parking stations:
Arts Centre Melbourne Car Park(enter from Sturt Street) – 150 metres north along Sturt Street.
The Australian Ballet Centre Car Park(2 Kavanagh Street) – 150 metres north along Sturt Street, then left into Kavanagh Street.

  • Drop off and pick up areas – is on Sturt Street entrance of the Centre at ground level with no stairs. Taxis and private vehicles for patrons with access or mobility requirements may drop off at this main entrance.

Venue Accessibility

  • Opening time on performance day –2 hours prior to the performance.
  • Level Access to main entrance & foyer – ground level.
  • Box Office –Located on ground floor foyer. Ticket purchases and collections are all available from the same location. For mid-week performances the box office does not close between business hours and time prior to performance.
  • Counter at wheelchair accessible height – Yes
  • Access Toilets – are available on all levels.
  • Lifts –are located on the ground floor behind the Blondie Bar. Access to all levels is available.
  • Venue wheelchairs – are available from the venue box office. See Front of House staff for assistance.
  • Bars and Refreshment areas accessible - Yes.

Inside the Hall

  • Access and Wheelchair seating –is available throughout the venue. Please discuss specific requirements directly with Box Office staff when booking your tickets.
  • Hearing assistance– Patrons may access the hearing loop but the hearing loop is available in the stalls only. Please switch your hearing aid to the “T” position to access this service. If you are unsure of how best to use your hearing aid while at the Centre, please speak with venue staff for assistance.
  • Assistance animals are permitted entry –Yes.

How to Book

All access bookings should be made directly with the box office by telephone or in person so we can provide the appropriate information for arrival and access requirements. Please note that free tickets & accessible seating options cannot be booked online.
