Venture Center Procedures Overview

Schedule

Students shall arrive between 8:15 and 8:30 a.m. dressed according to code and ready to begin work. After dress code approval and check-in, each student is to go to the assigned study carrel/work space and work on assignments. Students are expected to work consistently throughout the day.

Students participating in an early dismissal program at their home campus will not be eligible for this privilege while attending the Venture Center. Venture Center is a full day, 8:30-3:30, program. Students must attend the Venture Center the full day, regardless of their home school schedule.

Students arriving after 8:30 a.m. will be considered tardy and will lose the first 10% or more of their day. In the afternoon, the student may ride the bus if they live further than 2 miles from Venture Center and if the Venture Center placement was not caused by bus behavior. Students may also drive, walk or ride a bike home with parent permission or be picked up by the parent. School lets out at 3:30 p.m. Violations of bus rules will impact the student’s evaluation for the day. (See the Appendix for the “Student Conduct on School Buses” information.) Any alterations in end of day transportation must be cleared by the parent. Bus route information is available at:

Serving Venture Days

To complete the required days at the Venture Center the student must be physically in attendance, working on assigned school work, and conform to policies and procedures. Failure to do this can result in not receiving credit for all or part of the day. This includes absences, appointments, suspensions, or excessive rule violations. Major violations of the CSISD Code of Conduct can result in a conference and an additional placement to Venture may be assigned. Only time physically spent at the Venture Center will be counted toward completion of assigned days.

Detention

Detention before/after school, and during lunch may be assigned for violations of the Student Expectations (see below). Failure to abide by the Student Expectations while in detention will result in further detention and /or other disciplinary actions. Students will be responsible for their own transportation following detention.

Bonus Days

A student can receive one (1) Bonus Day for every one (1) day they receive their full day on their daily evaluation. If the assignment is 30 days, a student may be released after 15 days provided they received 100% on their daily evaluation all 15 days.

The student must have their academic assignments completed through their last day in attendance at Venture before Bonus days can be utilized. Failure to complete their academic assignments will result in the student remaining at Venture until the assignments are completed, or they have been in physical attendance the assigned number of day.

Bonus days may be revoked as a consequence for violations of CSISD code of conduct and unacceptable behaviors.
