AUTOMOTIVE STORAGE BATTERIES

Special order Battery-Non City of Seattle stock item or special order batteries shall be delivered within 8 hours from placement of order. Exceptions will be considered if the Vendor does not normally stock the item(s). Vendor shall notify the City of Seattle contact of any delays and update as to when Vendor can delivery the item(s) requested.
Rates, Prices & Request for Price Increases:
Pricing shall be fixed and firm for the first six (6) months of the first year of the contract. No later than forty-five (45) days prior to the second anniversary date of the contract, Contractor may submit a written request for a price increase to the City Buyer. Thereafter, written request for price increases shall only be considered when provided at least 45-days prior to the contract anniversary date, and if approved shall take effect on the contract anniversary date.
Such requests shall demonstrate the following:
- Price request shall be no greater than the total of changes to the CPI Index for KingCounty or other pricing index appropriate to the particular product herein;
- Not produce a higher profit margin than that on the original contract;
- Clearly identify the items impacted by the increase;
- Be accompanied by documentation acceptable to the Buyer sufficient to warrant the increase;
- And remain firm for a minimum of 365 days.
The request shall be considered by the Buyer and may be accepted or rejected. Failure to submit a price request at least 45-days prior to the contract anniversary date, shall result in a continuation of all existing pricing on the contract until the next contract anniversary date. The decision to accept any price increase will be at the sole discretion of the Buyer.
The Buyer may exempt these requirements for extraordinary conditions that could not have been known by either party at the time of bid or for other circumstances beyond the control of both parties, in the opinion of the Buyer.
BATTERY STOCK ROTATION
- The contractor shall remove used, dated or defective batteries from the property and replenish stock on a schedule agreed upon by both the contractor and the City of Seattle’s FFD Warehouse.
- Flooded lead acid batteries whose shelf life has exceeded two (2) months, shall be considered “dated”, and shall be removed and replaced with a new battery.
- Drycell lead acid Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) batteries whose shelf life has exceeded six (6) months shall be considered “dated”, and shall be removed and replaced with a new battery.
BATTERY TRADE IN CREDIT PROGRAM:
Vendor will credit the City for warranty batteries for the specified warranty amounts as follows:
- Usable batteries that are 1 to 6 months old will be credited at $15.00.
- Usable batteries that are 7 to 12 months old will be credited at $12.00
- All other used batteries that are not in warranty will be picked up as junk
BATTERY DELIVERY AND CORE PICKUP:
The Vendor shall deliver batteries to the City of Seattle within 24 hours of receipt of stock order. Once the vendor is notified, all battery cores shall be picked up within two (2) business days from requested locations as called out in this section.
Batteries shall be delivered F.O.B. the following four destinations, as requested by the City:

The contractor shall pick up used battery cores at no cost to the city. Batteries shall be picked up at the above locations and at the following two locations:
(a)South Recycling and Disposal Station
8100 Second Ave South
Seattle, WA
(b)North Recycling and Disposal Station
N 34th and Carr Place North
The contractor shall pick-up at no cost to the City additional cores at City's requests without batteries delivered.
Delivery can be made the next working day for orders placed by 3:00PM , Monday through Friday. No deliveries or will call on Saturday or Sunday.
TRAINING:
Annual training services shall be included at no cost to the City with this contract. Training shall include a minimum of 20 total hours of mechanic/apprentice training to be conducted in as many as 8 separate sessions per contract year.
WARRANTY:
The contractor’s warranty shall not apply to deliberate abuse or vandalism. All warranties start with the City of Seattle's in-service date.
Warranty service must be performed by seller and seller must accept responsibility for transportation. Vendor must respond to a call for warranty service within 24 hours. All costs of warranty replacement shall be borne by the vendor.
