VAND Awards

The Vermont Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics sponsors a number of awards for outstanding dietetics professionals. Each year, VAND asks members to nominate individuals you feel deserve these awards. Nominate a co-worker, friend, colleague, or even yourself!

Nominate as many people as you like. Please use one form for each nomination.

Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year Award (RYDY)
·age limit: 35 years or younger (as of March 31 of the current year)
·not previously selected as an RYDY

Recognized Dietetic Technician of the Year Award (RDTY)
·not previously selected for this award

Emerging Dietetic Leader Award
·Initial practice experience not less than 5 years and not greater than 10 years. (Interrupted careers or time periods not in practice are not to be considered or rationed into the 5-10 years of professional practice experience.)
·Not previously selected as an RYDY or RDTY

Outstanding Dietetics Student Award
·Member by January 1st in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in the year in which they would receive the award.
·Student enrolled in ACEND -accredited or approved dietetics education program in Vermont
·Demonstrated academic achievement as documented by letters from program faculty or preceptor.
·Demonstrated leadership and professional potential such as honors, student dietetic association activities, community service activities, etc.

Outstanding Dietetics Educator Award
·VAND forwards our nominee to the Dietetic Educators of Practitioners DPG and one person is selected for each type of program within our geographic area, Area 7
·Faculty with academic or supervised practice appointments or preceptors in ACEND accredited and approved dietetics education programs (CP, DI/AP4, DPD, and DT)
·Demonstrated innovative teaching skills and techniques
·Demonstrated mentoring as documented by letters from students

The Vermont Pyramid Award
·For individuals who have made a significant contribution to the health of Vermonters by promoting healthy eating habits, but who may not be members of VAND or not active in VAND

The Outstanding Dietitian of the Year award
·Given to a VAND member who has had exemplary service over a number of years.
