Vaucluse Public School Enrolment Policy

Introduction

A child is entitled to be enrolled at his or her local Government school. Each Government school has a designated intake area. A map of the designated intake area for Vaucluse Public School is available for perusal in the Admin office. Enrolment at Vaucluse Public School does not give student’s priority for placement in either the Autism class or the IO classes.

Enrolment Ceiling

An enrolment ceiling for this school has been established at 300 students. Once this number of enrolments has been reached, in general, children who do not live within the designated local area should not be enrolled.

Enrolment Buffer

Within the enrolment ceiling, a buffer will be determined to accommodate local students arriving throughout the year. The size of the buffer will be based on historical data, on enrolment fluctuations and on the number of families moving in and out of the area.

Except for enrolments at the commencement of the school year, non-local placements must not generate demand for extra staff.

Waiting Lists

q  A separate waiting list for each grade will be maintained, with all applications entered on the appropriate waiting list in order of receipt of application.

q  Applicants for non-local enrolment must complete a Application for Enrolment Form and the Application for Non-local Enrolment form.

q  Applications for Enrolment may be lodged during school office hours (8.30am-3.20pm) at any time during school terms.

q  Applications for any given year will be accepted no earlier than the first school day of the preceding year.

Renewing applications is the responsibility of the parent/caregiver.

Records

While we maintain accurate records of applications lodged with us, the onus is on the applicant to maintain proof that an application was received by the school.

Please keep the receipt to the right in a safe place as your priority number on the grade waiting list is indicated on it.
