Improvements in the variator are very important but if you can’t get those gains to the ground what’s the use in doing them.
Lighter weights only lets your engine rev in a better area of the power band, if the clutch is still slipping and not allowing all those gains to reach the road it is not going to increase rear wheel horsepower.
You can’t fight physics, friction is friction and eliminating the friction is the best thing you can do. It’s absolutely mind boggling that this has to be explained.
Performance improvements aren’t for everyone if you like the way your CVT operates leave it alone, if you care about getting all you can out of your CVT then the Hit Clutch is a must. I have found through many hours of testing that the all out best combination for the Burgman CVT to be the Hit Clutch used with the J Costa variator. The second best to be Hit Clutch with 18 gm Dr Pulley Sliders for all around and Hit Clutch with 15 gm Dr Pulley sliders for anyone interested in acceleration. If you are talking aftermarket variator to be Malossi or Polini then don't waste your money the OEM is just as good as any sliding style variator. The problems with the Burgman CVT are not in the variator they are in the clutch.
